오오오오오오옷!
(Ooooooooooh!)
괴물을 봤다..
(I saw Monster..)
어제 밤에 갑자기 어차피 맨날 늦게 자는거 영화나 보고 자야지 라는 생각에...
(I just thought last night that I sleep late everyday anyway so I should watch a movie...)
예매를 하러 갔는데..
(And I went to book tickets..)
아씨 영화시사회가 있었나보다. 울리 여동생들이 많아서.
(Darn there must have been a movie preview. There were a lot of little sisters.)
조금 괴로움.. 옆에서 계속 사진 찍어대고 있고.
(It was a little annoying.. They kept taking pictures.)
"사진은 찍지마세요~~" 라고 했더니만.
("Please don't take pictures~~" I said.)
"초상권이 있거든요!ㅋㅋ"라고 누군가가 돌림노래 부르듣 흥을 돋구는 바람에
("There's a right to privacy! ㅋㅋ"someone said like a song and sang it)
웃겨 뒤지는줄 알았다.. 다행히 안 웃었다..
(So I thought it was hilarious.. Fortunately I didn't laugh..)
(*the song part... =_= it's like a rhyme or sth in korean and the meter matches but it's sorta hard to put it in english;)
그나저나!
(Anyway!)
괴물...
(Monster...)
이야~~~
(Wow~~~)
난 그냥 봉준호 아저씨가 어떤영화를 또 만들었나 하는 기대감에
(I just watched the movie in anticipation of what kind of movie Mr. Bong Jun Ho made)
아니
(No)
어쩌면 한강에서 괴물이 나온다는 것 자체가 얼마나 이상할까 라는 못된 호기심에
(Maybe because of the evil curiosity of how strange it would be to see a monster come out of Han River)
영화에 몰입해 갔다..
(And I became absorbed in the movie..)
근데!
(But!)
옹 !
(Ooh !)
이게 왠일.
(Totally unexpected.)
빠른 전개에
(The fast plot scheme)
어색하지 않은 CG는 나에게 [블레어 위치 프로젝트]이루 가장 큰 몰입상황을 만들어주었다.
(And the CG that wasn't unnatural gave me a good reason to be absorbed in the movie for the first time after [The Blair Witch Project].)
음.. 처음 다리에 매달려있는 괴물이 어색해 보인건
(Mmm.. When the monster first appeared dangling on the bridge and looked a bit awkward)
그냥 한강에 괴물이 있다는것 자체가 이상해서 였을까?
(Was it because the fact that there was a monster in Han River itself was weird?)
그장면 이후로 괴물이 나오는 장면마다 소름이 돋았다.
(After that scene I got goosebumps whenever the monster came out.)
오랫동안 영화를 봐온 나로서는 조금만 CG스러워도 거부감이 드는 나로서는
(I've been watching movies for a long time and even if it looks a little like it's CG I don't like it)
우리나라 영화의 발전에 놀라움을 금치 않을수 없었다.
(But I couldn't help but become surprised at how much Korea's movies had developed.)
근데 진짜 괴물이였으면 어떡하지? -_-
(But what if it was a real monster? -_-)
좌우간..
(Anyway..)
괴물이 나오는 영화가 이렇게 웃기고 슬프고 씁쓸한 기분을 남겨줄지는 몰랐다.
(I didn't know that a movie with a monster in it could leave me with such a funny and sad and lonesome feeling.)
뭐랄가.
(How should I say it.)
영화를 보고나오니까.
(After I see the movie.)
아! 내가 이런 세상에 살고있구나.
(Ah! I'm living in a world like this.)
소수의 진실은 불특정다수의 편의를 위해 짓밟히는 조잡한 세상에 살고있구나.
(I'm living in a world where the truth of the minority is crushed for the comfort of a random majority.)
라는 생각이 들었다.
(I thought.)
괴물..SF라고 할수잇겠지만 상당히 현실적인 영화다.
(Monster..You could say it's SF but it's a very down to earth movie.)
SF아닌가? 멜로라면 낭패..OTL
(Is it not SF? Embarrassing if it's a love story..OTL)
이상하게 풍자적이면서 슬프고 무섭고 웃긴 영화.
(It's a weirdly satiristic but sad and scary and funny movie.)
괴물 강추!
(Two thumbs up for Monster!)

[AsianArtists] news - Group S and F4 may form super group
Kangta & Vanness is currently planning on including all F4 and Group S members into one group.
Due to the great response of Kangta & Vanness' songs like 'Scandal', with the success of their 1st jib, serious attitude is shown when being asked about releasing 2nd jib.
Kangta said, "it is not clearly stated that there will be 2nd jib, but the possibility is high considering the situation now. But I guess it would be a group bigger than just Kangta & Vanness.
The 'bigger group' he said refers to F4 with members Vanness Wu, Vic Zhou, Ken Chu, Jerry Yan, together with Shin HyeSung, Lee JiHoon, Kangta who worked along as Group S.
Vanness said, "I have discussed with Kangta about grouping S and F4 members together. To match the time available for activity for Kangta and I is already a very tough task, it seems that it is not easy either if there are 7 members in a group. But we have been discussing with other members. Kangta and I have formed a group, therefore to group F4 and S together is not impossible".
The desired music style and direction of F4 and Group S are similar. Since they are approved by fans in not only Korea, but the whole Asia, it is likely that they could be Asia's top group.

M's Interview with Screen - August 2006
In the beginning, it was Shinhwa. As one of the top group’s members, Lee Minwoo has announced that he is going to enter the film industry. But this isn’t something that happened out of the blue, while listening to his talks about life in front of the camera, it’s more about waiting than wanting.
Little Giant Wipes His Tears
Part-time Actor, Full-time Singer, it’s not uncommon. As Shinhwa’s Eric and Kim Dongwan has become noticed by their acting, it comes the news of Minwoo starring in “Wontak Angels”. Some could not help but think he was only joking. But like turning a new page, Lee Minwoo’s ability on screen can be judged. At the screening interview of the movie, what the director said created a sense of anticipation from the audience. After watching Lee Minwoo’s acting, both the director and the crew were in tears. As a Shinhwa member, as M, for Minwoo, this is the birth of a new actor.
“At that point, when I heard the director’s compliments, I was really shocked. Stress was slightly relieved (laugh). I thank them for picking me. Although I’ve appeared on comedy sitcoms before, but putting feelings into acting is a first for me. Given the situation, how should I drown in what sort of feeling? As I think about the person I want to create, how painful and hurt he should be, my tears begin to fall. Don’t use the brain, let the heart follow the words of the director. When the director is unhappy with the shot, he would cry, “Why are you using your brain now!?” At that point, I would take a short break and find myself again. When I stand before the camera again, I feel that I have changed.”
The method of following the heart is not an answer, but it is very close to the question. When speaking or listening, simply prepare an answer. When he actually does it, it’s sometimes very random. Walking on the right path, no matter how, there’s only himself whom he can depend on. That’s why it’s important to be keen and sharp.
“Being a singer has helped me. In my albums, there are songs that I sing when I’m happy, ones that I sing when I’m sad, ones that give my confidence, there are many feelings in the songs. On the stage, I am used to putting my feelings into my work.”
In the recent M concert, the stage and the background was matched perfectly. It’s not just singing, everytime when a song changes, the image that appears and the colours will change. In one song, Lee Minwoo is a boxer preparing for a battle, in another he is a passionate lover. The setting and the story of the stage, and the dance choreography appears even more like artists. That concert’s music is expressed by body language and narration. It is both a performance and an act.
“A concert is a combination of visual and audio. To express the energy of music, visuals are emphasized. On the stage, I wasn’t only moving to the music, but the music was also moving with me. Sometimes, I play with music.”
Because of passion, he has been in the showbiz for 9 years. “We are Shinhwa!” is their honest greeting, and also reminds themselves that they are no longer the 6 unknown teenagers, but superstars. It also marks the beginning of adulthood. To Lee Minwoo, these 9 years have been very special. It told him the punishments of life and the pain of love. As he got used to the camera, he became very quiet in front of people while being happy and crazy on stage at one point.

Crazy Over K-Pop
Foreign Fans Travel to Seoul Just to See Favorite Pop Stars
By Cathy Rose A. Garcia
Staff Reporter
When Mai Lor, a Hmong-American student, and her friends from different countries were planning their trip to Seoul last February, they were not worried about the freezing cold weather or the fact that there are limited tourist attractions during winter.
They were traveling to Seoul not to see the historical palaces or go shopping in Dongdaemun. For Lor and her friends, the main reason for their trip was to watch their favorite Korean boy band TVXQ's first major concert in Seoul.
In recent months, die-hard Korean pop (K-pop) fans from Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and other Asian countries have traveled to Seoul specifically to attend concerts by top K-pop stars such as TVXQ, Shinhwa and Se7en.
Lor, a 20-year old student, met her friends from the U.S., Singapore, Australia and the Philippines, through a TVXQ fan Web site. They were all fans of K-pop, especially TVXQ, even if their knowledge of Korean language was limited.
When they heard of the TVXQ concert in Seoul, it was hard for any of them to pass up the chance to see their favorite K-pop star in concert. Lor said it was initially difficult for the group to obtain tickets since the Web sites selling concert tickets were in Korean.
"We were very stressed out while waiting to hear from the company as well as having to wait for others to buy the tickets for us. We had no power to buy them ourselves, even though we had the means to pay for them,'' she said.
The group eventually got some help from Korean friends to obtain tickets directly from SM Entertainment, and from an online auction site where the tickets were double the original price. Lor and her friends ended up watching three out of the four concert dates of TVXQ.
Even if traveling to Seoul is relatively expensive, they willingly spent between one million to three million won ($1,000 to $3,000) for their entire trip, including hotel, tickets and shopping for K-pop CDs, posters and other souvenirs.
Difficulties for Foreign Fans
A frequent complaint of foreign K-pop fans is the lack of concert information in English. They also complain the entertainment agencies are focusing mostly on the lucrative Japanese market, while failing to cater to the demand of the K-pop fans in other countries.
Helen Vuu, a 33-year old manager from Australia, lamented the fact that entertainment companies seem to ignore foreign fans.
``I think it's extremely difficult for foreign fans to obtain tickets for Korean concerts, not only due to language difficulties but more importantly, Korean entertainment companies' lack of interest in overseas fans,'' Vuu said.
Foreign fans also urged entertainment agencies to create English-language Web sites for foreigners and international Web sites. They said possible ``concert tours'' to Korea should be considered for foreign fans to attend concerts and fan meetings.
Beatrice Song, an administration officer from Singapore, said the biggest barrier for foreign fans is the language. ``I think the biggest problem is the communication breakdown and language barrier. By using a language that allows foreign fans to understand already makes us feel more appreciated and motivated to support the artist even more," she said.
Despite the difficulties, the foreign fans enjoyed the experience of seeing TVXQ in concert. ``The concert itself was wonderful because the performances were awesome. It was definitely worth going all the way to Seoul just for that concert... Most of the (Korean) fans were friendly and helpful especially after finding out that we were foreign fans," Justine Itoralba from the Philippines said.
Recently, some entertainment agencies have recognized the demands of foreign fans. When another popular boy band Shinhwa held its concert in Seoul last May, entertainment agency Good EMG offered fans from China and Southeast Asia the opportunity to book tickets through e-mail. But there were a limited number of tickets for foreign fans, and there was a special tour option for an additional $50.
To capitalize on the rising popularity of K-pop stars in Asia, Shinhwa is currently on an Asian tour, which will see the popular group hold concerts in Bangkok, Thailand and possibly Singapore.
Fans Promote K-pop Concerts
Some foreign fans have taken matters into their own hands, and have set up their own English-language Web sites and forums devoted to K-pop concerts.
One of the sites is Khype (www.khype.com), which is devoted to providing accurate and up-to-date information for all K-pop fans in the U.S. Three K-pop fans, Chor Moua, Amy Madden and Alicia Um, who met during a K-pop concert at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, Calif. in 2005, founded the site.
Moua said they decided to form Khype, which stands for Korean Hype, after experiencing problems in obtaining tickets for K-pop concerts in L.A.
``In the past, there has always been confusion and misunderstanding, which was very frustrating, especially for those who can't read or speak Korean like me. Getting the information was hard because most of the time the sponsors or concert coordinator didn't speak English well enough to clarify things for us,'' Moua said, in an e-mail interview with The Korea Times.
From the original 10 members, the forum has grown to over 500 members, including Caucasians, Korean-American, Japanese, Filipino, Chinese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese and Hmong.
Most of them only became K-pop fans after stumbling on a K-pop video, which caught their attention enough to find out more about the Korean music scene. An informal survey of the members revealed the most popular K-pop artists are Rain, Shinhwa, Se7en, Fly to the Sky, TVXQ and Lee Hyo-ri.
Khype's Madden, a Caucasian-American, said she finds K-pop appealing because of the artists' passion for music and love for the fans. ``I believe non-Koreans are finding the excitement that follows Korean music, thus they get pulled into the hype. Though non-Koreans might not understand the words when a musician sings, music holds no language barriers. Anyone and everyone can enjoy Korean music,'' she said.
Currently, fans in the U.S. are abuzz over the planned YG Family concerts in October in New York, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles.
In Southeast Asia, K-pop Kingdom (www.K-popkingdom.com) is one of the Web sites for southeast Asians interested in Korean music, and provides K-pop concert information.
Yuri Aizawa, in charge of art and public relations for K-pop Kingdom, has been a longtime fan of K-pop and experienced how difficult it was to get information, buy CDs and attend concerts of her favorite artists.
Now, there are over 2,500 members, with 75 percent from Malaysia and the remaining 25 percent from Southeast Asian countries like Singapore and Brunei.
Aizawa noted the Web site helped promote the TVXQ and Super Junior concert in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month. ``It (K-pop scene) is at a beginning stage (in Malaysia), but we managed to really open up the K-pop market with the TVXQ concert, which was the first K-pop concert in Malaysia,'' she said.
The Kuala Lumpur concert attracted thousands of Malaysians, as well as fans from neighboring Southeast Asian countries.
Kristina Garcia, a Filipino IT consultant, was one of the many fans that traveled to Kuala Lumpur to see TVXQ. She has already traveled to Hong Kong, Seoul and Kuala Lumpur to catch TVXQ's performances.
``Despite the fact the (Kuala Lumpur) concert was the fourth time I saw the same performance, I still enjoyed it immensely. The boys (TVXQ) gave awesome performances despite technical glitches... It was all worth it for me," she said.
Even if she has been to several concerts, her excitement over TVXQ has not waned. Garcia said she would still like to visit Seoul again in the future.
``I would definitely go back for a vacation and a concert, too, if time and money permits. I would like to see Fly to the Sky, TVXQ and BoA in concert,'' she said.

DongWan receives invitation to star in ‘Legend of Bruce Lee’
Popular group Shinhwa member Kim DongWan received an invitation from China’s Broadcasting channel CCTV to star in a 40-episode drama based on the ‘Legend of Bruce Lee.’
This 40-episode drama series is a production for the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, with a storyline that follows the life of Bruce Lee from birth to becoming a Hollywood star. DongWan has been invited to take the role of Lee JunJiu, a Korean martial arts person who provided Bruce Lee with his life-deciding opportunity and aided him in entering Hollywood. Lee JunJiu is a friendly competitor and a very important role in the series, not only introducing Bruce Lee to the world of Hollywood, but also following him afterwards and supporting him like a shadow.
Producers of the drama have expressed that they wish to have a Korean actor to play the role of Lee JunJiu, and chose DongWan after reviewing his performance in ‘Spin Kick,’ in which he demonstrated his impressive martial arts skills. They believe that DongWan will be the most perfect actor for the role and will send out a copy of their detailed plan and script to him and wait for his answer.
The producer also mentioned, “‘Legend of Bruce Lee’ will not only air in China, but will also be broadcasted in America and a number of other countries. For the actor who plays lee JunJiu, this is a great opportunity for the world to get to know him.”
Takeshi Kaneshiro was chosen to act as Bruce Lee and once the actor for Lee JunJiu has been confirmed, filming will commence around September or October in America.

Eric Moon Raps for SMAP’s New Album
Eric Moon, a member of the male band Shinwha, has participated in the recording of a new album from the popular Japanese group SMAP.
Moon wrote and performed a rap for the solo song “Tokyo” from the group’s album entitled “Pop Up! SMAP,” which is due for release on July 26. Moon recorded the song, a remake of an old Japanese hit song, on July 11 in a Gangnam studio in Seoul.
Shinwha and SMAP have been friends for a long time. Another Shinwha member, Lee Min-woo, wrote the song “Heaven” for SMAP’s 16th album, which was released in July last year, while Shin Hye-sung performed a duo with a SMAP member. Moon has become the first member of Shinhwa to participate in a SMAP recording alone.
"I’m happy to be part of SMAP’s new album because I really like it. I hope their new album and the new album from Shinwha entitled “Inspiration,” which will be released in Japan August 16, will be popular among listeners,” said Moon.
Moon has also recently renewed his six-month contract with the CJ brand “Spam.” The brand has become popular in Japan since its TV commercial went on the air in Japan in April, which largely stems from Shinwha’s activities in Japan and Moon’s popularity for his role in the TV drama “Rookie.” Japan’s BS Fuji has been airing the drama “Firebird,” which also stars Moon, since July 19.
Shinwha will give concerts in Thailand on August 19, Tokyo on September 24 and Osaka on September 26 as part of its 2006 tour entitled “State Of The Art.”

7/25 Dongwan's Diary Entry
Dongwan's Japan Ramen Tour
Recently, I went to three different Japanese ramen restaurants.
The restaurant next to the bar, "Ahn," in ApGuJungDong
The place next to the broadcasting station in HongDae
The restaurant in EeDae that is already famous
The place in ApGuJungDong offers alot of Japanese appetizer dishes.
They even have AhSaHee NaMaBiRuDo!^^
The ramen even has the Japanese ramen taste!
And the atmosphere...as soon as you enter, the workers yell out
"welcome," so refreshingly!
But the owner is so bitter-looking and not very happy
so its not really a place i like to go...
I feel bad for the workers there... ㅜㅜ Ah! But there is no kimchi here.
I went to the HongDae Restaurant because their
DonGoChu Ramen is supposed to be famous...
Um... But it kind of tasted like beef soup (GomTang)...
I liked the size and the place was charming...
I don't know, are my taste buds just too particular?
The place at EeDae...
Just as I expected, the place that is famous
had really really good MiSugu Ramen.
It had the most Japan-like taste, give us kimchi,
the owner and cook are both Japanese...
If they just also sold GyuJaDo, they would sell alot of it...
Should I buy a lemon? Alot? The SoJu Cocktail was really good too~~~!
Since the EeDae place's owner is Japanese,
I think I just felt like the food was good.
Really, I have realized that other country food's
need a good atmosphere as well!
Maybe I should become a food reviewer? happy.
Ah!! I want to eat Ramen..
Why doesn't our county make a DaengJang Ramen....
p.s.I tried the DaengJang Ramen at SamYang. It doesn't smell good!

Lee Minwoo Knocked Thailand Out
A Shinhwa member as well as a successful solo artist, M and fellow KPop star - DongBangShinKi had driven the Thai fans wild.
M had received an award at the annual 5th Channel V Music Award, held in Thailand's Bangkok on the 16th June.
DongBangShinKi walked away with "Favourite Asia Artist" and "Favourite Music Video" while M took the highest honor - "Best Asia Artist" home.
The fans of M and DongBangShinKi had been found queuing up hours before the event, and not even the thunder storm which occurred could stop them from trying to catch a glimpse of M and DongBangShinKi from the best angle.
M's fans had also written M's name hugely on posters and kept cheering for him.
M had stunned Thai fans with his powerful vocal and dance moves. He expressed, "I'm very happy to see the Thailand fans today," in fluent English after his performance had earned him a big round of applause.

SHINHWA - CREATED ANOTHER "MYTH" IN SHANGHAI
Shinhwa much to Shinhwas Chinese fans delight had finally touched down Shanghai on the 6th July. It had been 4 years since their last visit and almost 1500 fans had gathered at the airport, preparing to give
Shinhwa a warm China welcome.
The sea of orange at Pudong International Airport had set a record in Shanghais star-chasing history and not even some 40 policemen and 10 personal bodyguards could take away their excitement.
Due to the overwhelming crowd, Shinhwa could only get out of the airport by leaving one-by-one with a personal bodyguard from the departure gates. The fans had also booked taxis to follow Shinhwa all the way to their hotel.
However, not just the anticipated fans, the Chinese media had hold high interest in the 6 men as well and all major media communications had presented in the press conference held on the 7th July.
Having created a myth in the airport itself, Shinhwa will definitely create a legend in China.

CHINESE MEDIA, "SHINHWA'S POPULARITY HOTTER THAN BI OR LEE JUNKI!"
SHINHWA STANDS AS ASIA'S BEST
On the 8th, the Chinese media reported that Korea's representative singers Shinhwa concluded their Shanghai concert with great success.
Fans that had waited for 8 years from not only all over China but all over Asia's biggest cities flooded to China's Shanghai, selling out all tickets completely and creating a sea of orange clothes and balloons to see group Shinhwa perform said the press in China.
This concert had an even amount of focus on Shinhwa and solo stages that received great reception from the fans. So much was the excitement of the fans that during the concert one fan even ran on to the stage to the members causing the concert to be momentarily paused.
The Chinese media continued to report, "The fans that came to see Shinhwa arriving at Shanghai airport were in the thousands and all roads to the airport were even brought to a standstill by the sudden masses of traffic. This and the attention and interest by the general Chinese public and media is one that greatly exceeds those that had visited China in the past such as Bi or Lee Jun Ki."
Shinhwa will now continue their success of their Asia-wide tour with Korea's Busan, Singapore, Thailand, Japan and many more cities coming up next.

INCOMPLETE by Hye Sung
Sorry guys, just like to share again a clip of Hye Sung singing an English song, INCOMPLETE.
Incomplete Lyrics
Empty spaces fill me up with holes
Distant faces with no place left to go
Without you within me I can’t find no rest
Where I’m going is anybody’s guess
I’ve tried to go on like I never knew you
I’m awake but my world is half asleep
I pray for this heart to be unbroken
But without you all I’m going to be is incomplete
Voices tell me I should carry on
But I am swimming in an ocean all alone
Baby, my baby
It’s written on your face
You still wonder if we made a big mistake
I’ve tried to go on like I never knew you
I’m awake but my world is half asleep
I pray for this heart to be unbroken
But without you all I’m going to be is incomplete
I don’t mean to drag it on, but I can’t seem to let you go
I don’t wanna make you face this world alone
I wanna let you go (alone)
I’ve tried to go on like I never knew you
I’m awake but my world is half asleep
I pray for this heart to be unbroken
But without you all I’m going to be is incomplete

Description of Shinwa - Winter Story
'Spin Kick - Taekwon Boys' mixes coming-of-age theme with taekwondo action
Taekwondo is Korea's representative martial art, which is also practiced by millions of people around the globe. Though the attack style is aggressive, the primary focus is on self-defense.
"Spin Kick - Taekwon Boys' ", which opened yesterday, is ostensibly about this lofty spirit of taekwondo, and a Korean youth's trouble-laden coming-of-age. Given that there are not that many taekwondo action films, director Nam Sang-kook has chosen an interesting subject.
In the film, Manse High School used to have Korea's top taekwondo team. But the once glorious team is now in total disarray: except for team leader Lee Min-kyu (Hyun Bin), other members lack the much-needed skills to knock down opponents.
With the national taekwondo competition just two weeks away, the team seems to have no hope whatsoever. But the team's poor fighting skills contribute to changing its fate.
Notorious school gang members led by Hong Yong-gaek (Kim Dong-wan) decide to challenge the passengers on the bus by drawing a line on the floor, daring anyone to cross into their marked territory. Some of the taekwondo team members happen to cross the line, sparking fierce fist fights.
The result: the gangsters beat the taekwondo students to a pulp. Due to the gravity of the violence, these toughs are now about to be expelled from the school and taekwondo team disbanded because most of its members are seriously hurt.
The plot secures momentum when the school principal (Kim Kab-soo) suggests that, to avoid expulsion, the gangsters represent the school in the taekwondo competition.
Much of what follows is about the growth of Yong-gaek from a school bully into a taekwondo athlete. Rivalry between Yong-gaek and team leader Min-kyu also helps roll the story forward.
"I have paid particular attention to understanding the inner world of today's youth, especially their desire to change and improve themselves. This theme is reflected in the main character Yong-gaek's desire to make a change in his life", director Nam says.
Kim Dong-wan, a member of the famous vocal group "Shinhwa", shows a solid performance as Yong-gaek, though his taekwondo skills leave something to be desired.
Although the ending is somewhat predictable, the film manages to tackle the central precept by depicting how the main characters come to understand the meaning of self-defense in practicing taekwondo.
Unfortunately, it seems that the film has borrowed conventional themes, characters and plots from popular Japanese sports comics such as "Slam Dunk". For instance, Suh Su-bin (Jo An), the taekwondo team's female assistant, is a character obviously copied from "Slam Dunk", and her role is ambiguous at best.
It also is annoying to see a high school student and his pregnant girlfriend living together quite naturally as though they were a real couple. That scene doesn't reflect the reality of troubled youth in Korea; rather it is just catering to the desire of youngsters to break rules.
Overall, the film is likely to appeal to youth with its fast-paced story and some action scenes. But don't expect too much. After all, this film relies heavily on the popularity of Shinhwa member Kim Dong-wan, and it is meaningless to ponder the shallowness when the movie doesn't care about artistic quality in the first place.
