Shinhwa to have their own TV program, ‘Shinhwa Show’

Korea’s longest performing idol group, Shinhwa, will not only be making their four year come back to the music industry, but will also be appearing on a variety program titled ‘Shinhwa Show’.

It has been fourteen years since the group debuted, and in those fourteen years Shinhwa has delivered lots of laughs and witty comments on appearing variety shows, but this will be the first time they will be starring in a variety show made especially for them.

An insider from jTBC revealed earlier, “We will start filming ‘Shinhwa Show’ with the conclusion of member Lee Minwoo‘s mandatory service.” Since Lee Min Woo has officially been discharged on March 2, we can expect the filming to kick off pretty soon.

So far, only the name of the new program has been revealed, and the air date and concept is still a secret. Fans are highly anticipating what the ‘Shinhwa Show’ will bring to the table.

A staff from ‘Shinhwa Show’ stated, “We are working hard to not disappoint fans. This will be a program where the members of Shinhwa will be able to display each of their individual charm.”

On another note, Shinhwa will be holding their concert in the Seoul Olympic Stadium on March 24 through the 25th.

Former H.O.T members Kang Ta & Tony jealous of Shinhwa’s comeback

Member Andy of legendary idol group Shinhwa who recently reunited for the first time in 4 years remarked, “H.O.T‘s Tony told me he was envious, and thanked us for making a comeback.”

On March 5th, Shinhwa held a press conference at M Cube in Seoul to officially announce their return to the music scene.

“In commemoration of our comeback, I sent Tony a text message,” Andy said. “He said he was really jealous, and thanked us for making a comeback on behalf of all the 1st generation idol groups.”

Fellow member Shin Hyesung also added, “Kang Ta also said that he was extremely envious.”

Shinhwa’s leader Eric stated in regards to his individual activities, “I want to become closer with the public through promotions with Shinhwa. My individual promotions are an after-thought at the moment and I will be focusing 100% on Shinhwa activities.”

Eric took a break from the music scene after Shinhwa released their 9th full-length album ‘Run‘ to focus on his individual activities, but has teamed up with Shinhwa once to again to release their 10th full-length album through CJ E&M. Their title song will include ‘electronica’, a musical genre the group has never attempted, and in addition to a brand new sound, they’re planning to return with some fresh new dance moves as well.

In related news, Shinhwa will be kicking off their concert ‘RETURN‘ in Seoul to celebrate their 14th anniversary. Once their Seoul show comes to an end, they will launch their ‘Asia Tour’ starting in April, traveling to Shanghai, Taiwan, Tokyo, Beijing, and more.

H.O.T’s Tony An sent Shinhwa’s Andy a thank-you text?

Shinhwa member Andy revealed at the Shinhwa comeback press conference held on March 5th at Mcuve Cheongdam CineCity, that H.O.T‘s Tony An had sent him a text message regarding the group’s comeback.

When asked if fellow singers had sent any congratulatory messages for the group’s comeback, Andy answered, “When we announced we would be coming back after 4 years, Tony An sent a text message thanking us for doing it. When I saw that message, I talked to the other members about trying our best to put on a good show.”

Lee Minwoo added, “When articles about our comeback were published, there were also articles about a possibility of H.O.T.‘s comeback, and I thought about how it would be nice if we could all promote at the same time. When I called Jang Woo Hyuk and Moon Hee Jun, they said it was a false report, and I was momentarily disappointed. I think it would be nice if they would comeback and the 1st generation of idols could promote with the current 3rd generation of idols.”

Shinhwa will release their 10th album in mid-March, and will hold a comeback concert on the 24th and 25th for their 14th anniversary since their debut.

[12.02.24] Shinhwa is “sweating it out every night in the rehearsal studio” with 1 month before comeback concert

“The word ‘reunion’ isn’t right.”

There is exactly one month left to go before their comeback concert. Shinhwa has been sweating it out late into the night in the studio every single day. Shinhwa leader Eric told Edaily, “The Shinhwa members have been devoting themselves to practising at the studio for the concert for almost 1 month now.”

He added, “Not to mention ‘disbandment’, even the word ‘reunion’ isn’t right. Shinhwa has never split up before and we’ve spent the last 14 years together as one unit.”

Shinhwa is very worried about their comeback performance. Because they’re worrying if they can live up to the honor of being dubbed the longest-running idol group. Fortunately the 20,000 tickets to their 2-day concert were sold out within 40 minutes of the start of sales. Eric said, “Frankly speaking, I was very worried about what to do if the seats were empty.”

“I truly feel the unwavering support of the fans who have grown up with Shinhwa.”

Shinhwa will be holding their comeback concert titled “2012 Shinhwa Grand Tour – The Return” at the Olympic Park Gymnastic Arena on the 24th and 25th of March. 4 years ago they held their 10th anniversary concert at the same venue, where they promised that they “will be coming back soon”. The reason for the concert being held on 24 March is because Shinhwa made their debut on 24 March 1998.

Shinhwa will officially kick off their activities once Lee Minwoo is discharged from military service on 2 March.

Shinhwa Members Take a Trip Down Memory Lane

The members of Shinhwa have been together for 14 years. As they prepare for their March comeback, they showed off their close friendships. On February 9, Shinhwa Company posted a question to its Twitter page; "It's been 14 years with Shinhwa and our fans. Let's share some of the interesting stories that have happened over this time."

The first to post a response was Shinhwa's leader Eric. Eric wrote, "I remember back in 1997 when we were living together, there were three female fans that always followed us around. The three of them were always in their school uniforms. I wonder what they look like now."

Eric told fans about how Shin Hye Sung fell between the stairs at their Dream Concert and other humorous stories about the members during their early days. Other members Dong Wan, Jun Jin, Hye Sung and Andy joined in, giving their thoughts about the past 14 years. Ending the post by telling Hye Sung to "Take care of yourself," a jab at him falling down the stairs.

In response, thousands of fans have left their own comments and thoughts about Shinhwa over the past 14 years on various fan cafes.

One fan wrote, "I first saw you on TV when I was in the fifth grade, now I'm in my late 20s," another wrote, "I remember when I didn't have enough money to buy your seventh album...My cram school teacher said that if I don't miss class, she would buy me the CD. So, I went to class."

Shinhwa Company wrote, "To the fans who have stayed with us for the past 14 years, we are making preparations for our comeback, concerts and regular activities. We hope to see you again."

Take a look at their music video for "T.O.P.", yes, it's old, but the song is great.

[12.01.26] Shinhwa, “We keep our promises”… Comeback after 4 years

Working hand-in-hand with CJ E&M for the release of their 10th album and their comeback concert in March
Acknowledged as Korea’s longest-running idol group, Shinhwa will soon be making their return to the K-pop world after 4 years.

Working together with CJ E&M on their comeback, Shinhwa will be releasing their 10th album in mid-March and also holding their comeback concert on 24-25 March at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Olympic Park/

Shinhwa made their debut in March 1998 and held their 10th anniversary concert in March 2008 before the members went on to serve their military obligations, resulting in a 4 year hiatus.

During the concert, the Shinhwa members had said “We started with six people and we will end with six people” and pledged to meet 4 years later. Now they’re back to keep that promise.

The Shinhwa members have been preparing for their comeback since last year.

Last year, the 6 members personally invested to set up Shinhwa Company, with Eric and Lee Minwoo helming the company as CEOs. CJ E&M is undertaking the distribution of the album as well as the Seoul and Japan concerts. Open World Entertainment, which also holds the rights to the Shinhwa trademark, will be responsible for Shinhwa’s Asia tour.

The members are currently working hard on the recording of the album.

A rep from Shinhwa Company expressed, “From the second half of last year onwards we’ve been requesting for songs from many composers, and the members are now recording for the album. They are striving to bring music that retains Shinhwa’s style and at the same time, in line with the current music trends. They’ll be filming for the MV next month.”

Their comeback concert – with strong support from CJ E&M – will take place on a grand scale, and will feature their new songs as well as their hits. In particular, as the concert falls on 24 March, which happens to be the date of Shinhwa’s debut, the concert will also serve to commemorate Shinhwa’s 14th anniversary.

Shinhwa will officially kickstart their promotional activities once the last member Lee Minwoo completes his military service in early March.

Shinhwa is also slated to hold a press conference on 5 March, where they will release details of their album and Asia tour.

Shinhwa Company’s official Twitter account has just been launched, while a large banner reading “Shinhwa, we keep our promises” will be put up on Gangnam-daero (Gangnam Avenue) on the afternoon of 27th Jan.

A Shinhwa Company rep explained, “The meaning behind this is to signify that the members have kept the promise they made to their fanclub Shinhwa Changjo at the 10th anniversary concert, that they will be coming back.”

He added, “Although many idol groups have emerged, as a group that has gone on for more than 10 years without any change of members, Shinhwa’s comeback will be even more meaningful.”
