Hallyu stars Shinhwa has ended their hectic 4-day/3-night stay in China.

Shinhwa held their '2007 CHINA TOUR SHINHWA FOREVER’ concert at Shanghai's Hong Kou stadium on 15 Dec, bringing a superb performance for more than 20,000 Chinese fans.

Just before the concert, 4 of the Shinhwa members arrived in Shanghai (Junjin via Pudong International Airport and Minwoo/Eric/Dongwan via Hong Qiao Airport). More than 1,000 fans gathered at the airport to welcome the members, truly demonstrating the immense popularity of Shinhwa in China, and they packed the two levels of the airport holding orange balloons and placards. The atmosphere at the airport was electrifying.

Morever, some local fans also had a dizzying chase trying to catch hold of Shinhwa. In order to get a closer glimpse of Shinhwa, they even rented taxis and vans to chase the vehicles of the Korean reporters.

On top of that, fans also crowded the hotel in Shanghai's Yuyuan district where Shinhwa was staying. In order to manage the crowd, the hotel had to put up barriers.

The chase continued on the way to the rehearsal at the stadium on 14 Dec. At 2pm on the day of the concert, there was an autograph session held, creating a huge human jam. The 120 fans selected for the autograph session turned up at the hotel, but though the hotel couldn't accommodate 120 people at one shot, they still continued to shout "Shinhwa Jjang" outside in the cold, leaving an impression with their love for Shinhwa.

7.30pm on 15 Dec at the Hong Kou stadium, the response was just as overwhelming. After the concert, about 200 fans gathered at the restaurant where Shinhwa was having their celebration dinner, and even the Chinese police were called in to manage the situation.

After the successful concert, Shinhwa members returned to Korea on 16 Dec at 3pm. As expected, the Chinese fans chased all the way from the hotel to the airport, resulting in a rather tense situation.

Shinhwa, who made their debut in 1998 have not only conquered Korea, but China and Japan too. Kim Dongwan and Eric are expected to enlist for military service next year, and Shinhwa is scheduled to release their 9th album in March next year. The group has never had any change of members in these 10 years, and they will be celebrating their 10th anniversary with a large-scale concert in Seoul end of March next year.

And on this Shanghai stop were being shown even more meaningful due to the parting. Thus it had attracted many fans from all over the world to come to shanghai to watch this concert. An unforgettable night.



SHINHWA ASIA TOUR CONCERT in Shanghai, had attracted many fans from all over the world, on 15th December evening the Shinhwa fans had already gathered in a large crowd together outside the stadium waiting patiently, as time passes by, there's even more people join into the crowd. The most outstanding part from them is all of their object are in orange in color.

Round around the whole HongKou stadium, you will realize that all the Shinhwa China forum's banner are being hung up, besides than passing out the member's item collection, they also given out the orange balloons, orange light stick out for free to all the fans.

The most outstanding crowd in the hall is Shin Hyesung & Lee Minwoo's fans where they had prepared a large balloon for their idol and these balloons where being place outside the stadium for the whole night.





Being as the only Asia stop for SHINHWA concert, the fans are not satisfied when they compare the difference between china, korea and the japan concerts which were being hold. All 3 countries concert surely have and outstand difference and the fans are not satisfy. Exclution of the difference of country market as the target, there were times that the organizer did not thought of the satisfaction of the china fans where they only request for a close and direct skinship.

From this matter, in this SHINHWA ASIA TOUR CONCERT in shanghai there were one surprise spot appeared under a white tent outside the stadium ---- The official goodies/merchandise purchase.


Being as a Korean artist holding a concert in China, this is actually the first time where there is official goodies and merchandise being sold on the scene, there is also SHINHWA 2007 Asia Tour light stick & towel were being sold, so as the member's CD, photobook, diary, cap and so on.

Obmit the pricing of these merchandise and the designs. To the china fans, this is good enough for them as it is almost the same as the Korea concerts priority & services. And also as a fan, we should have the same standard of right and services.



Besides than watching the singer on stage in the concert, the fans too had become the focus.

Shinhwa concert audience, there is 99% of them are female fans, all of them came with much proper outfit, exclusion with all the make up and accessories, there is head towel, raincoat, banner, logo balloons, and so on accessories are all in one color --- orange.

Although mostly the audience are female fans, but it doesn't mean there is no male fans. Just that among the crowd they only stand a tiny spot in everywhere but they still passionately giving their support.

Reporter too met a 3 member family who supports Shinhwa, Young parents brought their pretty daughter came to the concert and watching it together, extremely adorable!


Korean new group BATTLE, being a Shinhwa's junior they appeared in the concert as their senior's special guest. The most surprising matter is, these 6 young man singing Jay Chou's duet song "Faraway" in Chinese, thus had made the fans singing along together with them for the first time.


Being as a concert, the weather of the day too had credited the whole night for the concert very much. On the starting of the concert, from the lighting to all sorts of light stick shining, it is all in a total of orange ocean.

Specially when SHINHWA was performing "Once in a Lifetime", the crowd sang along. There were fans even prepared firecrackers and lighted it up. And at that very moment, with music & applause, under the moonlight, indoor dim light, and under the starry night with the firecrackers, that very moment had become an unforgettable night to SHINHWA and the fans.



In the concert, there were VCR broadcasted on the screen. Through these VCR, they personally translated with chinese subs. The wordings were deeply in touch and with the music background supporting it, it had made the fans cried.


According from the stage design, lighting effect and so on, SHINHWA ASIA TOUR in SHANGHAI were being simplified. There were much less stage effect but the members still could make the concert running wild and high.


Artist who hold their concert overseas surely will work hard on the local language, this had already become a must do section. This also falls onto Shinhwa and they will brought out their Chinese language skills.

Because there are members who often come to China for activities, their language usage had exceed more than "How are you" status. Too surely there will be a last minute work of memorization, they take turns to show off their skills and entertain their fans with a response replied back by laughters and cheering to the members.


According to all the Shinhwa fans had known, all of the members has their own significant dance, and towards this the fans are never bored on watching it.

In this concert, the members each had brought their own little solo dance. Eric doing his samba, Hyesung's crab dance, Andy's heart dance, Minwoo's Bump and Junjin with Dongwan doing the Tell Me dance.


In the previous Shinhwa concert tour, there were member solo performance, but in this 2007 Asia Tour concert, Leader Eric express due to this is the last concert before their enlistment, to be able to create a perfect "Shinhwa" image to the fans, to remember them as one group, they had cancel off all the member solo performance to a more exciting group performance, to give the fans the perfect SHINHWA.

Although there is no SHINHWA solo performance but still it was an unforgettable night to all the fans. Every time when we think of December 15th, surely our mind will pop out an ocean of orange and the image of the perfect SHINHWA on stage, nothing is happier than remembering this.

For a Korean Male Group, Shinhwa had been able to built up with a perfect image. Being debuted for 10 years, members are going to enlist next year but yet they still holding such large scale concert tour is another note of legendary to the industry. I believe that this night, all the cheering, laughters, tears, craziness from the Shinhwa fans would dearly believe that not matter how long it takes, how much more it will be, Shinhwa will be back together in one ---- The revive of SHINHWA!

[07.12.10] [News] "Shinhwa will be back"

Before wrapping up their「2007 SHINHWA JAPAN TOUR」in Saitama on 9 Dec, Shinhwa attended a pre-concert press conference.

At the conference they reiterated, "This is not the end, Shinhwa will be back", emphasizing the fact that they are not disbanding and will be making a comeback.

For the repertoire for this concert, Shinhwa said, "This time we selected the songs based on what we believe the Japanese fans like and the songs that we wanted to sing. Next year we'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary, and since this concert is held after 1 year and 3 months since the last concert, we selected the repertoire based on the thought that this will be the last (before our enlistment)."

When asked about their distinctive hairdos, Eric who was sporting the especially unique Warrior style said with a smile, "The 6 of us have worked very hard for this long-awaited concert. So in order to complement the energetic nature of the concert, I decided to sport a very characteristic hairdo."


When asked if this would be the 'last', he said "We won't be able to have group activities together for at least 2, 3 years after we enlist, that's why we called it 'last' for now. Once all members have finished serving their military duties, Shinhwa will still embark on activities as a group."

They also talked about plans of the members for next year. Lee Minwoo, Shin Hyesung and Andy all have plans to release their new albums and hold concerts. Kim Dongwan is apparently going to release a new album too. Junjin will be more active in acting, while Eric said that he "wanted to take a rest to recharge" before selecting a script before spring for his next drama project.

Next year onwards, all members except Shin Hyesung will be enlisting one after another. They avoided talking at length about this during the press conference, but it seems that Dongwan will be the first to enlist next summer.

Let us look forward to the proud return of Shinhwa, whose members have stayed together for so long and who have managed to differentiate themselves from the others.

[07.12.10][news] Shinhwa: Teary at their last Japan concert before enlistment

"Suddenly I felt a sense of warmth in my heart, and I was about to cry."

Shinhwa members expressed this sentiment at their last Japan concert before their army enlistment.

Shinhwa held the 2007 JAPAN TOUR SHINHWA FOREVER concert on 9 Dec for more than 13,000 Japanese fans. They began the tour with a concert on 6 Dec in Nagoya and ended the tour with two concerts in Saitama over 8 and 9 Dec. Especially since Eric and Dongwan will be enlisting into the army soon, this will be the last concert in Japan for the group.

After the concert ended, Shinhwa members all said, "Thank you very much. We all cried secretly during the concert." Minwoo in particular said, "When we were singing I Pray 4 U, I closed my eyes gently because I started to feel this warmth in my heart. I was really so moved that I was about to cry. We always try to do our best at our concerts so that we won't leave any room for regrets. I'm really very glad that the members are all together now."

Expressing his thoughts about the last concert in Japan with the members, Andy said, "Did you see me during the concert? I had my back facing everyone because I was wiping my tears away."

After ending the Japan leg of the tour, Shinhwa will perform in Shanghai on 15 Dec, after which solo and group activities will proceed simultaneously. They will also be released their 9th album on March next year.

Shinhwa on Dec 9th evening 5pm in Japan Tokyo hold '2007 Japan Shinhwa Forever' concert. Shinhwa on Dec 6th had hold one in Japan Nagoya, 8th in Saitama concert. In Nagoya had attracted 8000 fans to the concert and in saitama's concert had attract 13000 fans, a total experience to feel Shinhwa's popularity in Japan.

Especially Kim Dongwan & Eric will be enlisting next year. Towards this fact, this will be their last stage performance in Japan, thus they had hold a special and appreciation towards the Japanese fans. Shinhwa no matter after 3~4 years in Korea or in overseas, to gather these 6 men together will be a difficulty.

Shinhwa on the day's concert express "This is a long waited concert being hold under the name of Shinhwa and with 6 of us together too" and he continue "In the coming future, it will be difficult for us to be together. Even if so, hope everybody please don't forget us, please keep supporting us."

Shinhwa's plans for end Dec 2007 to 2008

▲Kim Dongwan
He will be holding his first solo fanmeeting with his official Japanese fanclub at Tokyo's Shinagawa Prince Hotel on 11 Dec. He will release his 2nd solo album in the first half of 2008, and will enlist into the army as a public welfare officer before summer.


▲Lee Minwoo
After his solo concert, which will be held in a club in Seoul, on the 23rd and 24th of Dec, he will release a single early next year. He also plans to release his 4th solo album around June 2008. He also hopes to be able to do an Asian concert tour next summer.


▲Shin Hyesung
Shin Hyesung will start on preparations for his 3rd solo album once the Shinhwa activities are completed by March 2008, and he plans to release the album in the first half of 2008. Plans are also underway for his concert.


▲Eric
The livewire of the group Eric will personally involve himself in the planning of a drama based on the concept of Prison Break, and he has also suggested to the members to all participate in the drama. It's an idea that he got from a Japanese manga series, and the concept will be similar to that of the American hit series.

The Snowy Night, the main track of the Winter Story 2007 album released on 6 Dec, featured Eric's lyrics and rap. He will also decide on his next drama project before March 2008.

Junjin will start preparing for his mini album once he completes the Shinhwa Asian tour, and will release it early next year. Activities for the mini album will not only be held in Korea, but in Japan and China as well. The Chinese drama, You Are My Dream, which was filmed in October, will also be shown on CCTV next February during the Chinese New Year break. He is also in discussions to appear in dramas and movies.

An increasingly sophisticated Andy is planning to spend this coming Christmas in Japan. He will be holding a fanmeeting in Yokohama on 23 Dec with the theme "A Happy Christmas with Andy in Yokohama". His first solo album is scheduled to be released in mid-Jan next year, and a concert is also in the pipeline.

DONGWAN's phobia for height

Shinhwa member KIM DONG WAN frankly revealed that he has a phobia for height. When asked about the reason why he stayed on a different floor from the rest of the members during their stay at Okura Tokyo Hotel, dongwan replied "Because of my height phobia. I can't sleep in places where the windows are closed or on high floor".

Dongwan further disclosed his encounters in China.

He mentioned, "in China when the members and staff stayed in the hotel, only I stayed at motel. Those fans who were unaware of my phobia saw me and were mistaken. They cried and wanted to give me money to stay in hotel".

Performing together after so long, Shinhwa says "Stamina is an issue"

"It's the same feeling as celebrating a festival. I feel really good when all the members are all standing on the same stage together after so long. The way we fool around and comfort each other hasn't changed a bit."

Just as what Lee Minwoo said, everyone always sees the 6 Shinhwa members spending time together happily. Junjin, Kim Dongwan, Lee Minwoo, Eric, Shin Hyesung and Andy haven't changed at all. After 10 months, Shinhwa members are all gathered together for an official appearance.

-- How do the members feel about performing together after such a long time apart?

▲Junjin: I was worried that there won't be many fans who would turn up, but so many people turned up for the Nagoya concert, I'm really happy. But what we want to show everyone is 100% from Shinhwa after such a long time. We will give our 100% at the Saitama concert too.

▲Kim Dongwan: I made two mistakes during the Nagoya concert, I saw a message from a fan who said, "I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't see your usual bubbly self." It was lucky though that Shinhwa's livewire Shin Hyesung worked as hard as a wild rabbit.

▲Lee Minwoo: We haven't been together for such a long time, so when we were doing our dances, there were times where we didn't do it well. Any singer who just released a new album would be nervous on stage, and it was the same for us. But we will put up a more professional show at the Saitama concert."


-- Next March it will be 10 years since your debut, what's your motivation for staying together?

▲Junjin: Isn't it because of me? (laughs)

▲Kim Dongwan: It seems like destiny. It's not like we put in any extra effort to stay together, and our relationships with each other is not of any special interest. We're just like water that flows on and on.

▲Lee Minwoo: Dormitory living. We've seen everything and know everything there is to know, just like real brothers. Whenever one of us is tired and unhappy, the rest will listen and try to help. None of the members try to stand out among the rest.


--Is there anything you want to improve on before the Saitama concert?

▲Kim Dongwan: In our past concert, the members would have their own solo performance which will take up 30-40 minutes. This time, all of us are performing together after such a long time, so we want to give a performance as Shinhwa. Thus stamina is an issue for us this time round. Once the clips of the concert are released, everyone will know who gets tired the earliest.

▲Shin Hyesung: It's the usual Shinhwa songs that we perform regularly, but somehow it all feels like new songs to us, so we are feeling nervous. We need to overcome that.


-- Recently the Wonder Girls, Big Bang, SNSD and other junior groups are all very active with their promotions.

▲Shin Hyesung: If we say that they are new and fresh, isn't Shinhwa working hard and steadily too? For this Asian tour, we are breathing together with the fans through some exciting songs. So for a 240-270 minutes long concert, the fans will feel very satisfied too.


-- Why is Andy so quiet?

Shinhwa, celebrating their 10th anniversary soon, has a piece of advice to offer to the juniors who want to call themselves the second Shinhwa.

Shinhwa will be celebrating their 10th anniversary on 24 March next year. SInce their debut in 1998 as an idol group, Shinhwa has released many hits including Hae Gyul Sah, Eusha Eusha, T.O.P, and Brand New, and has won the accolade of being Korea's longest running group.

Many idol groups, after being together for two or three years, would disband and establish their own solo careers. Shinhwa has stayed with fans all these years, never leaving their side. Shinhwa wants to tell their juniors, "Don't forget you're on the same boat."

Shinhwa held a 2007 JAPAN TOUR SHINHWA FOREVER press conference at Tokyo's Pastoral Hotel, and during the press conference they said, "Being in an idol group, there is no way for one person to row alone. Everyone has to row the boat together for the boat to stay on course. Thus the trust between members is very important."

They also said, "When any member is upset, other members will comfort them by gently hitting them. That's the kind of relationship we share, and that's why we can get to where we are today. That's why we say that everyone has to row the boat together to stay on course."

The Asian tour which brings Shinhwa to China and Japan is to celebrate their 10th anniversary. After their last concert in Osaka on 26 September this year, it has already been 1 year and 3 months. After the concert in Nagoya on the 6th, they will be performing in Saitama on the 8th and the 9th and on the 15th in Shanghai.

Next March, Shinhwa is preparing a large-scale event for their Korean fans. Eric, Kim Dongwan and other members will put up a good show for their fans before they enlist into the army.

Eric said," For the last concert for our Korean fans, we will put in every effort to show the best of us to everyone, we hope we won't disappoint anyone."

Shinhwa strongly recommends dorm living to new idol groups

Shinhwa held a '2007 Japan Tour Shinhwa Forever' press conference on 7 Dec at the VIP room at Tokyo's Pastoral Hotel.

"We strongly recommend dormitory living."

Shinhwa, who will be celebrating their 10th anniversary next year strongly recommends dormitory life to new idol groups.

When asked "as the longest running group who will be celebrating their 10th anniversary next year, what advice do you have for the younger idol groups?" To this the members said, "Dormitory living."

Lee Minwoo said, "Of course living in a dorm means that you must have a strict manager. When we were still trainees we were punished physically and beaten up before. But because we had such a scary manager, we were always on tenterhooks, and this made us even more united and allowed us to get to where we are today. When we were living in the dorm, if one of us got scolded, the other members would help to speak up. Many interesting things happened too. We hope that our juniors can get to experience this too. When we got scolded, we'd comfort each other; when we argue, we'd work things out, and competing against each other will help us to develop musically. These interesting memories is the reason that keep us going. Although the music we make are a little different from each other, but making music together has helped us a lot. Whenever we feel tired, the members will help each other out, that's why we're still together today. None of us has ever thought of trying to stand out among the rest, that's an important reason too.

Kim Dongwan also said, "Recently there are many new groups, not only the idol groups, they have to remember that being in a group is like being on the same boat. The boat will move forward if everyone is rowing, but the boat will steer from the original direction if only one person is rowing. Remember this and you will become a long-running group too."

Kim Dongwan nearly acted in Korean version of Prison Break

Kim Dongwan said that he once received an invitation to act in a drama with a script similar to American drama Prison Break.

"It was that was featured in a Japanese manga, I considered it but in the end it didn't happen. If there was a chance that all the members could all be in the same production, I would really love to try it."

As the longest-running idol group in Korea, Shinhwa held a press conference on 7 Dec in Tokyo.

When asked "How are you feeling now that the 6 of you are doing a concert together after so long?", Lee Minwoo said, "We finally released a Shinhwa single album after so long, and we're finally standing on the same stage after last year's Asian tour, it's a brand new feeling."

He added, "As we haven't been performing together for so long, we made some mistakes during the concert. However, we still comfort each other as it always has been, so it really feels like having all your family members gathering together to celebrate a festival."

When asked, "As the longest-running idol group in Korea, you're already going to celebrate your 10th anniversary next year. How do you feel about that?" Minwoo then answered, "What do you think? Don't we look old now? We can't help that either." The audience all laughed in response to his answer. He then said, "If you're asking how we have changed, we've probably become more laidback."

Fellow member Kim Dongwan said, "The motivation behind us being able to stay together for 10 years is destiny. After all the difficulties we've experience together, we've learnt not to expect too much of each other. (laughs) That's the kind of relationship we have. When any of us faces any problems, we'll all help each other out.

When asked, "As the longest-running group who have spent 10 years together, what do you think of younger idol groups in their 10s who are very popular now?"

Shinhwa members replied, "We've heard people talk about the second Shinhwa. We've also remember hearing the seniors telling us to persist until the end. It feels rather surreal."

*finally something to give us an idea of how the concert went... but i couldn't control my tears when i was translating the part about them going to the army. nothing will stop me from going to their seoul concert in march now. 'nuff said.*


Hi everyone, I'm now posting my entry on the bus using my phone.

Today I went to the Shinhwa concert in Nagoya. I've liked Hyesung for a long time so I wanted to see at least 1 concert, but there was always no one to go with me. I didn't manage to catch Hyesung at the August concert too.

This time I went with a friend who's a fan of Dongwan and watched the concert at last. From the bus station to the concert venue, there were all groups of girls. When we reached the venue it was packed with girls and there were only a few guys.

When we entered the venue, the queue was really long, and it was quite tough. There were many people who were selling concert goods and merchandise too.

The NGK hall was huge, and was divided into two sections, the grandstand and the arena. I was seated in the middle of the arena, 10 rows from the left of the stage. Although it was the side, I could still see very clearly.

Because the concert is happening after such a long time, everyone was very excited and stood up right from the start. The 6 of them rarely get together even in Korea, so everyone really enjoyed this concert.

They are really a group that has been around for a long time, everyone is really close to each other. Minwoo and Hyesung introduced the members in Japanese, then the other members also spoke in Japanese.

Minwoo seemed to like this year's catchphrase「どんだけ～～」a lot.
(*note: どんだけ - dondake: used when you're impressed with something... "how amazing is that?")

Their clothes ranged from black to white, then red, and black and khaki turtlenecks. There were shiny clothes too. And these all showed off their different sides.

They sang ballads with rap, and Shinhwa's dance is still the best.

It's been a long time since I heard "Urineun Shinhwa imnida", so I was very moved.

Shinhwa said that they will be enlisting the army one after another next year, maybe the next time they can all get together is after 6 years?

I was moved at the concert named "Forever". When it ended with a Japanese song, my tears started to fall unknowingly.

They still have two more concerts in Saitama on the 8th and the 9th. No matter it's to the fans or to the members, it's probably an unforgettable experience.

Best Dressers Song Seung Hun, Kim Hye Soo, Uhm Jung Hwa and Shinhwa

Actor Song Seung Hun and actress Kim Hye Soo, singers Shinhwa and Uhm Jung Hwa, and soccer star Lee Cheon Soo have been voted as the best dressers of the 21st century.

From 30 Nov to 6 Dec, modelling agency Modelline held the 24th Korean Best Dresser awards, and online polls were opened to Auction members to vote for the Best Dresser of the 21st Century awards.

A poll was done before the awards ceremony on Dec 10 featuring 42 Best Dresser winners from 2001 to 2006. A total of 9803 netizens responded with votes for five categories, including actors and actresses, male and femlae singers and sports star.

Among the 10 nominees in the actor category, 2001 winner Song Seung Hun was voted #1 with 18.5%, followed by 2005 winner Song Il Gook (14.6%) and 2003 winner Kwon Sang Woo (12.5%).

Among the 11 nominees in the actress category, last year's winner Kim Hye Soo bulldozed her way to #1 with 42.3%. 2005 winner Han Chae Young (11%0 and 2002 winner Song Yun Ah (9.4%) were next. Kim Hye Soo received votes from half of the female voters.

In the female singers category, 2002 winner Uhm Jung Hwa who has just started her own lingerie label received 37% of the votes, beating 2005 winner Ivy (30.8%). Interestingly, 32% of the male voters voted Ivy for #1, while 45% of female voters voted for Uhm Jung Hwa.

[07.12.07][news update] Junjin's mgmt denies rumors of Junjin being in a relationship

The Dec 6 report about Shinhwa member Junjin being in a relationship is apparently just a rumor.

Earlier there was a Starnews report that said that Junjin has been dating a tall and slim model who belonged to his gym for more than a year now.

However Junjin's management company Open World Music immediately made a clarification over the phone, saying that "after seeing the article we immediately contacted Junjin who's in Japan. After clarifying the details with him, we found that the relationship mentioned in the article is not true. Junjin himself has denied everything in the article."

Junjin is currently on the Shinhwa Asian Tour to commemorate the Winter Story 2007 album, the Saitama concerts will be on 8 & 9 Dec and the Shanghai concert will happen on 15 Dec. After that he will be returning to Korea.
