Lee Ji Hoon voiced his opinions about the tussle between Big Bang fans and Shinhwa fans over the use of the color orange, on the 8th April episode of MBC’s “Golden Fishery: Radio Star”. His good friend, Shinhwa member Shin Hyesung, was the other special guest for the episode.
When the topic of fans came up, Lee Ji Hoon said, “Shouldn’t Big Bang fans be using another color for their balloons instead of orange? Shinhwa’s representative color is orange, and since Shinhwa hasn’t disbanded they shouldn’t be using orange.”
The disagreement between the two fanclubs started when fans were spotted using orange lightsticks at a Big Bang concert early this year. Shinhwa’s fanclub Shinhwa Changjo has been using orange to represent Shinhwa since they were set up over 10 years ago. However, at the Big Bang concert, orange lightsticks and other support merchandise with Big Bang logos printed on them were used, thus fans from both sides began to argue about whether Big Bang was infringing on Shinhwa’s representative color.
To this, Big Bang’s management company YG Entertainment issued a notice on Big Bang’s official website in early February, stating that “The golden crown lightstick is a design that cannot be replicated. The lightsticks of other colors that have caused conflict with other fanclubs are not produced by YG, please do not purchase them.”
On the other hand, Lee Ji Hoon laughed as he talked about fellow S member Kangta, “When we were still high school students, Kangta was Ogeum High School’s Smiling Angel while I was Baemyung High School’s Skinhead. There was once when we went along with two friends from Jamsil High and Songpa High to pick a fight against students from another school, and I even ended up with a bloody nose. The person who held me back was Kangta.”
