Kim Dongwan (28) is a clear minded artist.

Kim Dongwan, who sings only in Shinhwa, released his own solo album, “KIM DONGWAN IS”. Debut for 9 years, other than Shin Hyesung, Lee Minwoo and Junjin who has already started their solo activities, he has started his late.
Kim Dongwan said, “It’s not that easy to be alone in stage”, being a singer for 9 years, he didn’t expect that “he will get nervous just like a new singer”, Kim Dongwan revealed to us openly.
“I refused to hear anything such as a singer whom is not able to sing moreover, this is my own songs…”
Compared to being a solo singer, Kim Dongwan who has greater ambitious as an actor, relates his reason in preparing his solo album due to the experience he has when he was having Shinhwa tour concert last year in Japan, China and Thailand etc.
“On the stage, I feel myself alive. During acting, as long as you met a good director, the result will be good, however as a singer, it depends on individual attraction. You need to possess capabilities to surpass the composer and producer talents’ to manifest your charms.”

Composer Yoon reprimanded saying, “The reason for being outcast by the majority is due to the fact that your audiences are Korean but yet you insist on doing American’s music.” He then advises “It’s good to do music beyond Korea but you must search for your own singing method.”
After exchanging the pointers, Kim Dongwan included Yoon Min Sun’s composition, “Handkerchief” as his theme song. This song narrates about a man who gets hurt due to the lost of his love and not long after this song is released, it gets popular. The most importantly, this song does not bring any complex sentimental feeling, it gives a light ballad feel upon hearing it.
About “Handkerchief”, Kim Dongwan saves his long explanation and describes simply, “Singer displays a good lie, and actor relies on feasibility”.” Singing and acting are two different domains which has a clear separatrix.
Singers are required to displays their self-confidence, therefore they need to lie, even over one hair. On the contrary, actor is just like an ordinary person that required feasibility”.
After getting recognition for the TV drama, “Goodbye Sadness”, he expands his performance domain once again in the drama, “Person I love” during the start of the year, however Kim Dongwan isn’t satisfied with the performance.
