[09.09.29] Dongwan’s blog: 2009 (main page updated)

this guy deserves much more punishment anyone can imagine

from Su-mi:
If I’m not wrong, he’s probably referring to ‘나영이 사건 The Nayoungie Case’.. Here’s a brief writeup from one of the Korea social commentary blogs I visit::

“나영이 사건” has attracted the ire of netizens in Korea, and I expect it to become bigger news soon. A 57-year-old man was sentenced to 12 years for anally raping a child—9-year-old Korean age—on the way to school last year, and then using a plunger to remove the evidence, thereby destroying her intestines and anus. The man protested the ruling, saying he was drunk.

Netizens have taken their anger to websites like Agora and those for the National Assembly and the Ministry of Gender Equality (currently down because of heavy traffic). A Naver search for “나영이사건” brings up the Korean-language news stories.

A jerk like that shouldn’t be sentenced to death.

Just like in the USA and in Japan.
Through the amendment of laws
Make his identity known to the public,
And increase his sentence,
He should be made to regret what he did until the day he dies

No matter what is being said now,
The children shouldn’t be hurt anymore.
And the law isn’t going to be amended either.

[09.09.27] Junjin’s final concert before enlistment ends on a happy note

Singer Junjin ended his final concert before army enlistment amidst a pleasant and cheerful atmosphere.

Spending an enjoyable 2 hours together with approximately 1,400 fans, Junjin held the final performance ‘Last Concert’ of his Asia tour at Yonsei University on 27 Sept at 4.30pm.

On this day, he performed his dance songs with his trademark charisma such as ‘Even If It’s A Thousand Times’, ‘Come Back’, ballads such as ‘The Words Of Love’, ‘I’ll Love Even If It Hurts’, and refreshing mid-tempo tracks such as ‘Cute’ and ‘For You’.

Junjin performed a total on 18 songs, saying ‘It’s been a long while since I held a concert. and though my body condition isn’t at 100% but I’ve put in my best efforts to prepare. I hope my final concert before enlistment will bring you laughter and happiness.”

Throughout the concert, Junjin often joked with the the audience – comprising mostly female fans in their 20s and 30s – while fans kept on asking him to buy hamburgers, a la Park Myung Soo in ‘Infinite Challenge’.

It has only been about 2 years since Junjin started having concerts as a solo act, but he seemed proficient and experienced with his stage presence.

“After I developed an ambition for singing, I’ve been learning a lot from the (Shinhwa) hyungs, is it too late? I hope to continue to receive encouragement from other singers even after I enlist.”

Guests for this day included Jo Sung Mo, M Lee Minwoo, and more than 150 Japanese and Chinese fans turned up to give him their fullest support. MBC ‘Infinite Challenge’ PD Kim Tae Ho also turned up as a member of the audience.

Jo Sung Mo said, “The fan letters that I received while I was in the army really cheered me up a lot. Please continue to give Junjin your support.”

Junjin ended the show with a series of his hits including ‘Hey Ya’, ‘Wa’, and ‘Love Won’t Come’, and Lee Minwoo also took to the stage one last time as he performed ‘Eusha Eusha’ with Junjin.

[09.09.26] Dongwan’s memolog: Eating alone. (edited)

Coq au vin is a French fricassee of rooster cooked with wine, lardons, mushrooms, and optionally garlic. Older roosters are traditionally used because they contain a lot of connective tissue, which creates a richer broth when cooked

I had a wedding to attend so I went out all dressed up,
And I went to the gallery restaurant near my home by myself and had some coq au vin.
[I always choke can't eat properly when eating at weddings.. Because I eat and take have to entertain photo requests at the same time.. -_-;]

Doesn’t it look pitiful like that
A young artist drew this picture of me in one minute..
I received the picture
In exchange I gave him an autograph.

[09.09.25] Good EMG faces imminent KOSDAQ delisting

Wish Good EMG will be able to come out okay
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

With the group activities of idol group Shinhwa coming to a temporary halt, Good EMG are finding themselves in a crisis as they face imminent delisting from KOSDAQ (Korean Securities Dealers Automated Quotations i.e. the Korean stock exchange). After a review by the Financial Supervisory Commission on 22 Sept, they have made a decision to delist Good EMG. The commission reported that the company had only a turnover of 6 million KRW in the first half of the year and that its main business operation has been halted.

Good EMG is the result of a merger of Good Entertainment – known for being Shinhwa’s management company – and another KOSDAQ-listed company Eastern Technology in 2006. That year, the company’s turnover came up to 5.6 billion KRW, which fell to 3.9 billion KRW in 2008, and further dropped to 1.2 billion KRW for the last financial year. In the first half of the current financial year, the turnover for Q1 was 4.5 million KRW and 2.5 million KRW in the 2nd quarter. There has been no revenue from its main entertainment business.

Their key artist Shinhwa, with Eric and Kim Dongwan enlisted for military service, inevitably has had to put group activities on hold. Though remaining members Junjin, Andy, Shin Hyesung and Lee Minwoo are still active as solo artists, as solo acts they are not individually contractually bound to Good EMG and thus their individual earnings do not contribute to Good EMG’s turnover.

Kim Jung Young of Omnibus Investment, an affiliate of Good EMG, has expressed that they have already made plans to invest in a coffee chain and the construction of a car racing track, and that they will be appealing the decision in order to remain listed.

(specifics of Good’s financial investments omitted)

[09.09.25] Shinhwa members Lee Minwoo & Junjin transform into Michael Jackson for KBS Chuseok Special

Junjin and Lee Minwoo, members of popular group Shinhwa, will transform into Michael Jackson for KBS2’s Chuseok Special, ‘Stars’ Dream Montage’, scheduled to air on 2 Oct at 8.30pm, according to a KBS rep.

The special will feature singers from various genres including rock, dance, ballads and R&B, who will be presenting the stage performances of their dreams.

During the recording on 23 Sep, Shinhwa’s Junjin and Lee Minwoo – known for their dancing skills – took to the stage in a Michael Jackson tribute performance and showed off their seamless chemistry with each other. The two have recently performed Shinhwa’s hits ‘T.O.P’, ‘Perfect Man’ and ‘Brand New’ on MBC’s Music Core on 12 Sept, thoroughly enjoyed by the Shinhwa fans.

Other guests on ‘Star’s Dream Montage’ include Bada, Chae Yeon, 4 Minute, Sweet Sorrow, Koyote, FT Island, Tintin Five, Kim Jong Seo, Namolla Family, Hong Kyung Min, Ko Yujin and T-Max.

[09.09.25] Infinite Challenge home shopping network: ‘Returned Goods’ guy Junjin

trivia from Su-mi:

품절 (p’oomjeol) – Out of stock, off the market
Describes someone who is no longer single and available, either in a relationship or married

반품 (banp’oom) – Returned goods
Describes someone who has just returned to being single (in this case… Junjin )

How much are the “out-of-stock” members of Infinite Challenge worth? The 7 members were presented as part of the Korea Members’ Special Sale on an episode of “Infinite Home Shopping”, aired on 19 Sept.

As expected, national MC Yoo Jae Suk enjoyed a high level of popularity, while on the other hand Junjin was termed as a ‘returned goods’ guy after his relationship came to an abrupt end recently.

“With his appearance and looks, he should be an ‘out-of-stock’ guy, but recently something unfortunate happened. Please just keep smiling and stay cool like this,” said gagwoman Ahn Young Mi, who played the role of program host. Having his breakup brought up again, Junjin understandably looked a little awkward but he went on to say, “I’ll continue to be the Junjin who moves forward.”

At that moment as a show of support to Junjin hoping that he will eventually be ‘off the market’ once again, the production team flashed the caption of “Ladies who wish to soothe Junjin’s pain! Quickly click now!”

[09.09.25] Junjin’s kissing scene with UEE?

A kissing scene between UEE and Junjin in an MV has caused an online stir.

UEE and Junjin have collaborated on a track together, titled ‘The Case Of Him and Her’ featured on the project album ‘Personal Affairs’ under the theme of ‘Encounter’. The teaser of their MV has been released on 25 Sep.

Netizens have been paying a great deal of attention to a particular scene of Junjin kissing UEE’s forehead during the album photoshoot, and the teaser has greatly increased the level of anticipation towards the full MV.

The full version of the MV will be shown during Junjin’s Seoul concert at Yonsei University on 26/27 September.

[09.09.23] Idols turned killers – Eric and TOP vs Lee Byung Hun

TOP of popular idol group Big Bang will be making his drama comeback in early October with KBS drama ‘IRIS’, attracting much interest.

Other than TOP, the transformation of Shinhwa’s Eric into a cold-blooded killer is not to be missed either, with him exuding a different kind of charm.

Eric (Mun Jung Hyuk), from 6-member group Shinhwa, had played the role of a ruthless killer in 2005’s ‘A Bittersweet Life’ directed by Kim Ji Woon. In the film, Kim Sun Woo (played by Lee Byung Hun) kills a gun trafficker, whose brother (played by Eric) doesn’t flinch even as he sees his murdered brother and instead coolly collects the money near his corpse.

Eric and TOP betray no personal feelings in their expressions, fully demonstrating the traits on the face of a killer. Both gun-toting actors, perfectly exuding the air of a professional killer, have resonated well with the audience.

Incidentally, Lee Byung Hun is another similarity that both actors share, as he stars in both ‘A Bittersweet Life’ and ‘IRIS’. There is much anticipation among viewers as how the chemistry between Lee Byung Hun and TOP plays out. The interesting link that is Lee Byung Hun which connects idol group representatives Eric and TOP forms a triangular relationship, whichhas gotten viewers paying attention once again.

[09.09.19] Live Works notice: Regarding the postponed release of Hyesung’s Japanese album

Hi everyone, this is Live Works.

We’re sorry to deliver some bad news to everyone who’s been waiting for Hyesung’s new album.
Hyesung’s first original Japanese album was scheduled to be released at Tokuma Japan on 21 Oct (Wed)
But it has been postponed to the first half of next year.

Hyesung is now shuttling between Korea and Japan to record his first Japanese album to kickstart his activities in Japan.
But as this first Japanese album is a whole new starting point for him
He has to be careful and cautious with his decisions.

So as to produce an album of even higher quality and for a more effective promotion, we have no choice but to take this step
We once again seek the understanding of the fans.
We will work hard towards creating an album that’s worth everyone waiting for.

We will announce the release date of the album as soon as it’s confirmed, via the official website.

The careful and important first step in Japan..
More than anyone else, Hyesung hopes to present his album in the shortest time possible
Please give him your encouragement and support
Thank you.

from Su-mi: This quote came from one of Haruki Murakami’s short stories titled
‘Hanalei Bay’, which was featured in Tōkyō Kitanshū (Strange Tales From Tokyo),
published in Japan in 2005. The English versions of the 5 short stories in this
book and 19 other short stories were later included in a collection titled Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman, published in August 2006.

The quote sounds a
little chauvinistic but I think it’s actually pretty true… The problem with most
guys is that they don’t listen enough…. -_-*

“There are only three ways to get along with a girl: one, shut up and listen to what she has to say; two, tell her you like what she’s wearing; and three, treat her to really good food. Easy, eh? If you do all that and still don’t get the results you want, better give up.”

[09.09.17] Singers venturing out – “Separate but together”

Sometimes together, sometimes operating separately – more and more ‘entertainer’ groups are adopting this modus operandi. In the past, singers who crossed over into acting were viewed differently. Singers and groups these days are not only stepping into the field of acting, but also breaking out for their own solo music projects via single albums, and also expanding their scope of activities to the musical world and the theatrical stage.

The reason for singers moving out towards solo work is not simply an extracurricular activity, but these are avenues that will allow them to show off their talents. This has prompted many singers to continue taking up new challenges.

With orange balloons always standing by them, the longest-running Korean idol group Shinhwa has remained well-loved.

Minwoo, Junjin and Hyesung have continued to woo fans with their albums; while Eric, Dongwan and Andy have attracted much attention for their acting work.

Eric, who secured his status as an actor with the classic line of “Do you smell anything burning?”; Dongwan who has impressed with his solid acting abilities; and Andy’s venture into musical and drama projects – they have attracted much interest and attention for their successful transformation into actors.

Though Shinhwa is unable to function as a group for now due to the enlistment of Eric and Dongwan, there is no doubt that the light of Shinhwa will be shining the brightest when the 6 members reunite and return as a group.

[09.09.17] Eric’s official JP fanclub staff diary: 3 entries

Hi everyone. We’ve already reached the last entry for August.
Last week Eric had two days off in a row, so after heading to Gangwon-do and Daegu with his colleagues for a workshop he stayed on for a short trip.
He had a great time with friends in Daegu that he had known since Shinhwa days and had not met for a long time.
The next time he visited Gangwon-do before heading back to Seoul.
Although this trip was shorter than expected, Eric said that he didn’t feel tired because he enjoyed himself with friends that he hasn’t met for a long time.
Everyone should try calling your long lost friends too!

BUSY ERIC – 3 Sept

Hi everyone.
This is the first staff diary entry of September.
It already seems like fall here in Seoul
The sky is really blue and there’s a refreshing breeze.
Does summer end in September in Japan too?
This week Eric has been on duty
And as it’s baseball season in Korea
Many people have been heading to Jamsil Baseball Stadium to watch baseball games
And thus all the staff at the Sports Complex Station have had a busy week.
Eric is no exception too.
After Eric finishes his work for the day, as usual he either heads home to rest, heads to the studio to cheer the trainees on, or working on his music at home ^^
This weekend we’ll be holding the video screening in Seoul.
The Osaka event which kicked off the video screening tour felt like it happened just a few days ago, and before we know it the tour is coming to an end.
We hope that the Seoul event will be just as successful, and we hope that everyone will show your support.
Lately the H1N1 influenza seems to be spreading
Everyone, please take care!

Hi everyone.
The weather in Seoul has become somewhat dull, it’s like we’re already into fall ^^
Since this morning it has been drizzling. Japan should be turning a little cold too at this time too.
Last week we held the Eric Last video screening in Seoul, and thank you to all the many fans who turned up. There were even some fans who came from Japan especially for this.
Like usual, Eric has been dropping by the rehearsal studio on his way home after work.
The temperature drop in between seasons makes it easy to catch a cold. Please take care not to catch a cold!

[09.09.15] Dongwan’s memolog: Real tonkatsu ramen~

i can hear your complain from here, dongwan has picky tastebuds when it comes to food he likes and true enough he will find a good place where it is served
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Honestly. Although I hate to make it known to the world that I went to eat ramen by myself…
But for the increasingly many ramen enthusiasts these days, a whole slew of ramen houses with really terrible food in Hongdae and Apgujung, all claim to have delicious ramen
For the friends who are under the wrong impression…
I’ve decided to recommend a ramen house!
It’s situated in a little alley next to the Hyundai Department Store in Sinchon…
Kokoro Ramen!

I’m always not satisfied with the ramen that has been brought into Korea~
‘Why are they trying so hard to accommodate Korean tastebuds… If I have to eat ramen like this..’
‘People won’t enjoy ramen made this way… -_-;’
I would have thoughts like these.
Oh oh oh! But

I’ve encountered ramen that can be considered the most authentic Japanese tonkatsu ramen..
I was really annoyed after a visit to the dentist and I stepped into the place impulsively thinking that I’d just eat anything that’s there…
Heuheuheu… ㅜㅜ I was overwhelmed… Heuheu.
Although in Korea shoyu ramen and miso ramen are aplenty, there isn’t a place with really good tonkatsu ramen.
[Once I was at a place called Musashi where they served tonkatsu ramen topped with samgyeopsal and I almost threw up..-_-*]
It’s clear that this place also tries hard to cater to Korean tastebuds.
But it’s also clear that they put in effort not to lose the Japanese ‘taste’.
Apparently the boss takes part in a ramen comepetition held in Japan every year.
Even though in my hurried state I couldn’t capture how delicious it looked..
Ah~~ Looking at the picture I feel like eating it again~
I must have it one more time when I have the time!

p.s The place is small so it can only accommodate 10 people.
It’s like in Japan where you can only get to eat it after buying a ticket from the vending machine~ㅋ

[09.09.15] Yang Hee Eun’s favorite hoobae* is Shinhwa’s Kim Dongwan

Singer Yang Hee Eun’s favorite hoobae singer is Shinhwa’s Kim Dongwan, as revealed on the upcoming 15th Sept episode of KBS2’s Sang Sang Plus.

In a segment where guests had to point out the good points and bad points about one another, comedian Lee Sung Mi said of Yang Hee Eun, “She’s very exact when she speaks, and when she notices anyone’s speech mistakes she would correct the mistake right away, just like a language teacher.”

Comedian Kim Young Chul then proceeded to do an impersonation of Yang Hee Eun, and revealed that her favorite junior is Shinhwa’s Kim Dongwan – the reason being his brisk and straightforward greeting style.

Unlike most juniors who would just say hello, Kim Dongwan would go up to Yang Hee Eun and say, “I’m Shinhwa’s Kim Dongwan” and introduce himself in a precise manner. Kim Young Chul re-enacted that scene, “Yang Hee Eun really liked Kim Dongwan like that, and she told him, ‘I’m sure to remember your name’, and she lavished praise on him generously.”

The episode will be aired on 15 Sept at 11.05pm.

[09.09.10] Junjin to leave Infinite Challenge for spine surgery

No official confirmation from Open World, so let’s just hope for the best and pray for Junjin
– - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – -

Multi-entertainer Junjin will be departing ‘Infinite Challenge’ prior to receiving surgery on his spine.

Junjin’s pre-enlistment medical examination had revealed that his tailbone needs to be operated on.

Prior to this Junjin has been active on various variety shows despite suffering back pains, but according to the results of the medical examination this time, it seems that surgery is now required.

A source close to Junjin said, “The date of the operation hasn’t been fixed but it should be around the end of September to early October. As he needs to recuperate after the operation he will not be able to participate in his variety activities, and as such, it’s inevitable that he will have to leave Infinite Challenge.”

A source from MBC also said, “We received a notice from Junjin’s management that he can’t help but to leave the show due to his back pains. Though we’re sorry to hear that, we hope he can recover quickly. The spot vacated by Junjin will be filled by Gil and subsequently Haha who will return in February next year.”

[09.09.09] Junjin to exit Infinite Challenge in October? IC PD Kim Tae Ho refutes rumors

Rumors of singer Junjin exiting MBC variety show Infinite Challenge has surfaced.

According to a staff member from Infinite Challenge, “Junjin is scheduled to leave the show in early October, and will participate in the recording until then. His final episode will be aired around mid-October. The other IC members have also been notified of Junjin’s pending departure.”

Another staff member also confirmed Junjin’s exit, “Junjin will leave the show eventually, but it hasn’t been confirmed whether it will be early October or mid-October.”

There have been much talk recently of Junjin leaving the show due to army enlistment, and guest Gil’s active participation on the show has put him in good stead to take over Junjin as a regular member.

Idol group member-turned-solo singer Junjin has also had a hard time on the show due to his busy schedule. He had received negative comments from viewers such as ‘not devoted enough’ and ‘frequent absences’. He once again attracted criticism for the 5th Sep episode of IC when he arrived later and yet got caught but Jung Hyung Don very quickly, leading viewers to question his function on the show.

Infinite Challenge PD Kim Tae Ho: Junjin will stay on in Infinite Challenge until he enlists for the army

Infinite Challenge PD Kim Tae Ho has refuted rumors of Junjin leaving the hit variety show in October. “Until Junjin enlists for the army, he will continue to be on the show.”

In a phone interview with Star News on 9th September, PD Kim Tae Ho said, “Until Junjin enlists, he will continue to appear on the show with the other IC members. Right now his enlistment date hasn’t been set yet, and thus the date for his final appearance has not been set yet either. At the moment there are no changes to the plan yet.”

An official from Junjin’s management company has also denied that Junjin is leaving the show in October. According to him, “Junjin’s enlistment letter states his enlistment date as mid-October, but he’s currently considering to postpone his enlistment date one more time.”

1980-born Junjin must serve his military duty by the end of this year or latest by early next year. The filming schedule and the date of his final appearance for IC will be fixed according to his enlistment date.

After making several guest appearances starting from June last year with the “Money Bag Challenge” special, Junjin had joined IC as the 7th member, filling in for Haha who’s currently serving his military duties.

A few months ago when Junjin was preparing for the release of his new album, he had hurt his toe and also collapsed due to exhaustion in July, leading him to miss the recording for several episodes of Infinite Challenge. Gil, the latest addition to the show, has also been making his presence felt.

About Jaebeom and 2PM…

insights from Su-mi about the problem of Jaebeom and 2PM with its Management Company:

I did agree with M to a certain extent when he said that 2PM shared some similarities with Shinhwa, and I do think that they are one of the better young idol groups out there, so it’s a pity to see things unfolding this way for Jaebeom and 2PM.

Though I can’t say 2PM’s situation is exactly the same as what Shinhwa went through back then (be it Andy’s temporary departure or the contract tussle with SM Entertainment), but the fact is that Shinhwa did overcome those really dark days and became even stronger, so I would think that together with the support from the management company, the members themselves and the fans, these problems can be overcome.

Though I don’t know who made the call to let Jaebeom go, I gotta say that it’s a little disappointing to see JYPE and Jaebeom giving up at this point. Perhaps the magnitude of this whole controversy is way bigger than I imagined, maybe he had received actual death threats, I have no idea. But the way I see it, this was all started by a handful of crazy black-hearted netizens who are out for innocent blood (I mean, 6,000 out of a country of 48 million people, that’s pretty minuscule), and caving in now seems like giving a huge victory on a silver platter to these lunatics, who could probably be the very ones who drove quite more than a few people to suicide too.

Nevertheless, all the best to Jaebeom, 2PM and the Hottests – hope that everything works out eventually.

[09.09.08] Dongwan’s memolog: Ah~ Reporter Lee Seung Jae.. ㅋ

note from Su-mi: This post was a hard to translate directly – but I’ve tried my best to retain his original meaning as far as I can… I hope I did…

‘연기파 배우’ from the original post – It literally means “acting school actor”, in means something like a really good actor/serious actor, as opposed to the idol star-type actors… And yes, our boys included… they still have some way to go before they’ll get recognized as 연기파 배우…

Ah, the term “acting school actor” doesn’t just exist in Korea alone.
If there are still many actors who act but can’t act, then don’t call them that….
It’s the same idea behind why we shouldn’t use “culinary chef” freely.

- Reporter Lee Seung Jae, Movieholic

p.s. I changed “배우연하는” in the original article to “연기하는”.
(I think both terms mean ‘to act; acting’ but it’s a grammatical thing…)

[09.09.06] More articles from MinJinDy’s ‘Intimate Note 2′ episode

Ahhh!!! so the CD porns are not Oppa Yam's its Minwoo's, ekekekekeke ^^

Jung Woon Taek and Lee Minwoo argue over “pornography”

Shinhwa member Lee Minwoo and actor Jung Woon Taek had an argument over the issue of pornography on the 4th Sept episode of Intimate Note 2. Earlier in January this year, Jung Woon Taek had appeared on MBC variety program “Let’s Stay Over Tonight” and he had mentioned Lee Minwoo as one of the suppliers who contributed to his “porn collection”, which attracted much attention from netizens.

On this episode, Lee Minwoo voiced his displeasure with regards to those remarks, and said that contrary to what Jung Woon Taek had said, the videos that were uncovered in Jung Woon Taek’s home didn’t belong to him. Only then did Jung Woon Taek confess to lying back then, “I didn’t know how those videos ended up in my home. Honestly speaking, I did wrongfully frame Lee Minwoo for that.”

But he also refuted that what he did all stemmed from the image that Lee Minwoo has.

“Wouldn’t you be caught off your guard if you got asked about something like that too? When I was trying to recall who usually watched things like that, I could only remember Lee Minwoo, so I just blurted out his name.” Much to the amusement of everyone at the recording, he later told Lee Minwoo, “Change your image!”

Jung Woon Taek: When we go drinking, Lee Minwoo only pays attention to the girls and treats me as if I’m invisible

Actor Jung Woon Taek poured out his grievances about Shinhwa’s Lee Minwoo on the 4th Sept episode of SBS Intimate Note 2.

“Lee Minwoo asked me out, saying that we were going to have some drinks with some of the guys. In the end, the girls dropped by and he treated me as if I was invisible. He chucked me aside, and even left me there drunk and headed home himself.”

But Lee Minwoo replied in all seriousness in his own defence, “Didn’t hyung ask me to invite the girls along? After they turned up, and although it was your first meeting, how could you get so friendly and have skinship (i.e. physical contact) with them?”

To his own embarrassment and the laughter of everyone else, Jung Woon Taek said, “I don’t remember.”

Junjin: Lee Minwoo stands in the center when we dance because he’s short

A ‘rivalry’ battle between Shinhwa members Junjin and Lee Minwoo took place during the 4th Sept episode of Intimate Note 2. On this episode, Junjin talked about how Lee Minwoo has been the main lead in the 12 years of Shinhwa’s activities.

“Just before we started the promotional activities for our 4th album ‘Hey Come On’, the members suggested, ‘Jinnie’s individual skills are pretty good too, let him be the main lead this time’.” At that time Lee Minwoo agreed to it. However just before the first broadcast, Lee Minwoo changed his mind and made a unilateral decision, telling Junjin, “Hyung will do it”, and Junjin’s efforts for the past month came to nothing. Junjin then lamented about the reality of being a younger junior, “If only Lee Minwoo and I were friends (i.e. of the same age instead of being his hyung/older brother).”

Later Junjin uncovered the reason for Lee Minwoo being the main lead, “For our debut song Haegyulsah, I was supposed to take the lead, but Mr Lee Soo Man told us, ‘Since you both dance very well, let’s have the shorter one stand in front’, and that’s how Lee Minwoo ended up getting the front spot.”

The reason why Jang Young Ran’s husband dislikes Junjin?

New bride Jang Young Ran talked about her husband’s dislike for Junjin on the 4th Sept episode of Intimate Note 2.

Much to Junjin’s panic, Jang Young Ran said, “My husband really dislikes Junjin, who was paired up with me as a couple on ‘Love Letter’. Whenever Junjin appears on TV, my husband would say ‘That’s the man from your past’, and he would ask me what exactly our relationship is. Anytime my husband has too much to drink, he would bring that up.”

Junjin replied Jang Young Ran, “There’s absolutely nothing between us, you’re not my style.” Later on he even directed the same message to her husband, “There’s absolutely nothing between me and Jang Young Ran-sshi. She’s not my style.”

The phonecall to Eric on ‘Intimate Note 2′…

Kim Gura: Now we’re going to make a phonecall to one of the other Shinhwa members
Lee Kyung Gyu: Is it Hyesung, Dongwan…
M: Hyesung’s on a plane, how can we call him?
(This was from a lame joke that M made earlier on – M heard the sounds of a plane flying past and claimed that HS was coming to join them for the show and that he’s on the plane that just flew past)

Line is connected

M: Hello
Eric: (mumbles/moans)
M: Eric ah
Everyone else: Ah Eric~
M: Choong Jae and Andy are right beside me
JJ: Hyung
Eric: (mumbles/moans) Yeah
JJ: Are you awake?
[Eric is sleeping after being on late-night duty]
Eric: What are you doing? The 3 of you?
Andy: We’re filming Intimate Note, we’re recording right now, so don’t swear or curse or anything like that

MC Eun Jiwon takes over the phone (♥♥♥)

Eun Jiwon: Eric-sshi
Eric: Hello!
EJW: Minwoo says that he’s the funniest member in Shinhwa…
Eric: He said that about himself?
[Everyone bursts out laughing]
Eric: He has to be doing some kind of response by the side, but it’s to liven up the atmosphere and things like that
M: That’s right…

MC Lee Kyung Gyu takes over the phone

LKG: This is Lee Kyung Gyu-sonbae (senior)
Eric: Ah, hello
[LKG explains that they graduated from the same school (not the same year of course )]
LKG: Eric, when are you going to be discharged from the army?
Eric: Next year, in October
LKG: Make a movie after that then
Eric: (laughs) Ok, got it~

[09.09.06] Minwoo’s age tussle with Eric was resolved with his birth photo (Intimate Note 2)

On the 4th Sept episode of SBS Intimate Note 2, Shinhwa member Lee Minwoo shared an incident with fellow member Eric over the issue of age and seniority.

According to Lee Minwoo, “I was born in 1979, but due to some errors it’s listed as 1980 on my family registry”, and as such that led to an interesting psychological battle with 1979-born Eric.

After seeing that Lee Minwoo’s birth year is listed as 1980, Eric said, “If you’re born in 1980, then you should be calling me hyung (older brother), isn’t it?” Lee Minwoo explained to no avail that there was an error that led to the wrong birth year being listed.

In the end, as a last resort, Lee Minwoo decided to use his birth photo, “I went straight home and brought out my birth photo, where my birthdate was clearly listed. It was only after I showed it to Eric that he no longer had any doubts.”

[09.09.05] Junjin left speechless on Intimate Note 2 at mention of Lee Shi Young

JYR: (You left only me out of the gathering) Why did you do that ?
JYR: You’re not my style.
JJ: I totally love you *His catchphrase during Love Letter
JJ: If I totally love you, can you not get married?
Prospective bride Jang Young Ran’s biggest crisis!
Super strong blow!

Shinhwa’s Junjin – who has just recently ended his 6-month relationship with actress Lee Shi Young – was left speechless at the mention of her name on SBS Intimate Note 2, a sign that the relationship was already over at the time of recording.

Special guest Jang Young Ran had said, “We were both on Love Letter back then, but I was the only one left out of the gatherings. I was really upset.”

Junjin then used his catchphrase from Love Letter and said to Jang Young Ran, “I totally love you.” Later he added, “If you’re not marrying me, then don’t do it”, to which Jang Young Ran retorted in jest, “Then shouldn’t you break up with Lee Shi Young first?” Although at the time of recording the episode, the couple’s breakup had not been announced yet, viewers expressed that he gave himself away with his expression.

Although the guests broke out in laughter at Junjin’s flustered expression without knowing the facts then, to the viewers who tuned in last night, they were already aware of the breakup and felt bad for him.

On this episode, 11-year group Shinhwa’s members – Andy, Lee Minwoo and Junjin – ratted on one another, together with guests Chae Yeon, Jang Young Ran and Jung Woon Taek, entertaining viewers with their witty talk.

[09.09.05] Moon Hee Jun and Jang Woo Hyuk didn’t get along in H.O.T?

Shinhwa member Lee Minwoo said on the 4th Sept episode of SBS ‘Intimate Note 2′ that MC Moon Hee Jun and fellow H.O.T member Jang Woo Hyuk didn’t get along.

On this episode, Shinhwa members Lee Minwoo, Junjin and Andy were spilling secrets of one another thus Moon Hee Jung remarked in jest that the Shinhwa members “don’t seem to be very close”. In retaliation, Lee Minwoo retorted, “Everyone knew that Moon Hee Jun and Jang Woo Hyuk fought because of dance choreography issues back then too”, sending Moon Hee Jun into a fluster.

Trying to explain himself to everyone’s amusement, Moon Hee Jun replied, “We were on good terms even back then. Just that our functions in the group caused a little….”

In addition, Lee Minwoo also confessed that he was interested in Chae Yeon before.

Jang Young Ran: Junjin never asked me along for ‘Love Letter’ gatherings

Soon-to-be-married Jang Young Ran has revealed on the upcoming 4th September episode of SBS variety show ‘Intimate Note 2′ that Junjin has never invited her along on gatherings when they were both appearing regularly on now-defunct SBS variety show ‘Love Letter’.

“I was a regular on ‘Love Letter’ when Junjin was on the show, but I’ve never gone on any gatherings and I thought that there were none. But I later found out that all the other pretty female guests attended such gatherings except for me, and the organizer of these gatherings was none other than Junjin. There was once when Chae Yeon was on the show and after the recording, Junjin only asked Chae Yeon, and not me, to go for a meal. I was really upset.”

Junjin replied, “Everything was decided by the people involved in the gatherings.”

M Lee Minwoo admits to being “attracted to Chae Yeon before”

wa member M Lee Minwoo confessed on the upcoming 4th September episode of SBS variety show ‘Intimate Note 2′ that he was once attracted to Chae Yeon before.

Chae Yeon – one of the guests – shocked everyone present when she said, “There was once I was drinking with Lee Minwoo, and after that he called out to me from the stairs and expressed his feelings a little.”

“Though he didn’t explicitly say he liked me, I did really think about it then, so I want to ask him about that now.”

To this, Lee Minwoo replied , “Chae Yeon is not only sexy, but she’s also easy to get along with, so I think I really was attracted to her before”, after which he amused everyone when he imitated the way that Chae Yeon tries to flirt with guys over drinks.”
