[12.07.30] Dongwan’s Naver blog: 2012 (main page updated)

This quote comes from the Korean edition of Gordon Livingston’s book ‘How To Love’, but as the Korean edition isn’t a word-for-word translation of the original, As transcribed by Sumi, she can't find the exact corresponding English quote in the original edition after reading the whole book once through…
So what’s below is my attempted translation of what’s in the Korean edition of the book, and it paraphrases some key concepts and ideas from various chapters across the original edition. If you’re interested to read the original book, here’s a PDF version of it: Gordon Livingston – How to Love
==============================================
For people who absolutely don’t want to get closer for fear of falling a step behind,
They sometimes foolishly get blinded by love. They mistake violence for masculinity,
They misunderstand depression for humility, they consider a self-centred attitude as confidence.
And even think that they can change the other party’s flaws with the power of love.
But love is not as powerful as we think it is.
Love is not a magic spell that makes everything possible.
Moreover, people’s fatal flaws cannot be changed easily,
And in the worst case, you may even get infected with their flaws to become more and more like them.
