Shinhwa member Kim Dongwan has landed the leading role in upcoming KBS 1TV drama ‘Cheer Up, Mister Kim’.
‘Cheer Up, Mister Kim’ is set to follow ‘I’ll Give You the Stars and the Moon’, and is a family drama that brings warmth to the small screen by depicting family love and sweet romance. Kim Dongwan will play the titular character, 32-year-old Kim Tae-pyeong, who suddenly becomes the guardian of 4 kids each bearing a different surname, and is an expert in domestic help who is popular among housewives for his good looks and skilful hands. Kim Tae-pyeong has overcome his tough lot in life through perseverance and tenacity, and showsfamily love and warmth that goes beyond blood ties to the children who share a similar childhood to his own.
Kim Dongwan has established himself as an actor with his roles in the award-winning MBC special Liberation Day drama ‘The Peak’, and the box-office hit ‘Yeongasi (Deranged)’, and the fans have reacted excitedly to his new project.
Kim Dongwan said, “I’m a little nervous about the long commitment to a daily drama, but I have faith in producer Mun Bo-hyun who I’ve known since ‘Goodbye Sadness’, director Hong Seok-gu who’s known for his stylish directing, and writer Jo Jeong-joo who has received lots of love for ‘The Princess’ Man’. The cast members all have high hopes for the drama being different from the daily dramas so far, and are all doing more research work to better play our roles. ‘Cheer Up, Mister Kim’ is expected to start airing on KBS 1TV in early November.
