[11.01.24] Kim Dongwan on ’100 Points’: “There’s no way I can be in a drama with Hyun Bin now” (consolidated news)

On the 22 Jan episode of KBS2′s “100 Points out of 100 Points”, Shinhwa’s Kim Dongwan offered some heartfelt advice to his idol juniors.

“The competition between idols seem to be very stiff. You have to understand that if one member does well, you’ll benefit too. Other members will gain popularity because of that one member.”

MC Park Myung Soo then asked, “Have you experienced this before?” To which Kim Dongwan replied, “It was like that when Eric became popular because of the drama ‘Bulsae’ (Phoenix).”

T-ara’s Soyeon also asked if he had any difficulties in his acting because of his status as an idol singer. Kim Dongwan replied, “Having started out as an idol, you will never ever get rid of that label. You just have to accept it.”

“If you feel burdened, you shouldn’t even start acting. Even if you don’t feel burdened by this, but because the viewers are usually harsh with their criticism, you should only start when you have the confidence to face all this.”

When the discussion turned to the topic of idol fashion, Kim Dongwan commented that he got scolded and labelled as a “fashion terrorist” when he went out in a tracksuit and leather shoes.

Shinee’s Minho then asked about “Spin Kick”, a movie that Kim Dongwan had starred in. Kim Dongwan said, “Hyun Bin and I were both in the movie”, capturing much interest from the guests on the mention of Hyun Bin.

Kim Dongwan quipped self-deprecatingly, “Back then Hyun Bin was the supporting actor while I was the main actor, but now… I think there’s no way I can be in a drama with him now”, much to the laughter and amusement of the guests. Unlike the time when Hyun Bin filmed ‘Spin Kick’ in 2004, his popularity has skyrocketed and can no longer be compared to that time.

The guests then teased him, saying that, “Kim Dongwan’s spin kick to Hyun Bin has sent him flying.”
