[10.09.18] Dongwan’s reviewlog: The Invincible

I know the English title for this movie is “A Better Tomorrow” – but I’m just going to call the Korean version by the literal translation of its Korean title (“The Invincible”) because that’s the only way I can differentiate it from the original Hongkong film (and its sequel) whose title is “A Better Tomorrow”…

Here’s the theme song from “A Better Tomorrow 2″ that Dongwan mentioned in his post – Leslie Cheung’s dying scene.

Director: Song Hae Sung
Starring: Joo Jin Mo, Song Seung Hun, Kim Kang Woo, Jo Han Seon
Produced: 2010, Korea, 124 minutes
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Song Seung Hun is so cool here…
Jo Han Seon is so despicable here…

Joo Jin Mo and Kim Kang Woo, with their ‘brotherly love’ and ‘fraternal love’
Have portrayed a kind of love between brothers that has never been seen before.
Ah… It’s different from the love in ‘Frozen Flower’… ㅋ

Who said that being ‘pretty boys’ they won’t be able to immerse themselves in their roles…
The four hunks in this movie did not put up a rough front,
Nor did they furrow their brows in a forced manner.
They exuded charisma through the look in their eyes and their gestures
Borne out of their own life experiences.

The embracing scene which seemed to be the director’s homage to Chow Yun Fatt and Ti Lung
Together with the background music ‘Running Towards The Future’, it made my emotions surge.
Ah… Just thinking about it makes me want to cry….ㅜㅠ

This is just ‘The Invincible’ as viewed from the perspective of a fan of ‘A Better Tomorrow’.
‘A Better Tomorrow’ is still better than this.
