[09.08.22] Stars’ names = money!

This is in relation to SM Entertainment trying to copyright the names of their artistes including DBSK, BoA, Super Junior, SNSD and the likes… Those sly money-grubbing a**es -_- =================================================

The 17th August edition of MBC programme ‘A Feel-Good Day’ did an estimate of the value of the names of various celebrities.

In first place was Korean pop culture icon Seo Tai Ji, whose name was estimated at 180 billion KRW, followed by Hallyu star Bae Young Joon at slightly above 100 billion KRW.

Singer BoA, whose career spans Japan, the US and Korea, took 3rd place with 100 billion KRW, while group Shinhwa was in 4th place with their name estimated to be worth 50 billion KRW.

Group DBSK took 5th place with an estimated value of between 40-50 billion KRW, and Hallyu stars Won Bin and Choi Ji Woo took joint 6th place with estimated values of 30-40 billion KRW.

According to the show, Shinhwa had struck a deal with ex-management company SM Entertainment worth 1 billion KRW in order to secure the rights to their group name.
