‘Deranged’ Tops Box Office on Day of Premiere
Korea’s first film on an infectious disaster, Deranged, topped the Korean Box Office on the day of its premiere.
According to the Korean Film Council′s Compiled Ticket Computer Network, Deranged gathered 190,953 moviegoers on its first day, July 5.
The number surpassed that for the Hollywood blockbuster The Amazing Spider Man on the Box Office’s daily chart, pushing the film back to no. 2 with its 149,170 tickets.
The Amazing Spider Man gathered a total of 2,303,754 moviegoers less than a week since it started to top the daily Box Office charts with its premiere on June 28.
That Deranged beat out the record-breaking The Amazing Spider Man is certainly surprising and commendable.
Deranged stars Kim Myung Min, Moon Jung Hee, Kim Dong Wan and Honey Lee. Its story is about a father who tries to save his infected family in the midst of a parasitic worm epidemic.
