JUNJIN: WE’LL BE HOLDING SHINHWA’S 15TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT IN 3 YEARS’ TIME

Just before enlisting for military service, Junjin (29, real name Park Choong Jae) told fans and the media that Shinhwa will hold their 15th anniversary concert in 3 years’ time.

Junjin reported for duty on 22nd Oct at Nonsan Military Training Center, and will be deployed as a public service officer after 4 weeks of basic military training. More than 100 fans from Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan and other Asian countries turned up with orange placards and banners that read “We’ll wait for Junjin” to send him off.

Junjin turned up with his father Charlie Park and father and son embraced each other as they bade farewell. As Junjin met the fans, he jokingly bragged, “I gave myself a really close shave.”

Reaching Nonsan after setting off from home, Junjin expressed his anticipation as he told journalists, “When the Shinhwa members reunite in 3 years’ time, we’ll be holding our 15th anniversary concert. We’ll really surprise everyone.”

When asked if fellow members Eric and Dongwan had any advice for him, he said, “They told me to take care not to catch a cold since the weather is turning colder, to be more careful and to pay more attention. And also to work hard during training.”

He added, “Since I made my debut in high school, I’ve received a lot of love from the fans and I will miss all of you. As a male Korean citizen, I should fulfill my military responsibilities, but I’m sorry that I have to serve out my duties as a public service officer. I will work even harder during training.” Bidding farewell to the fans with one final “우리는신화입니다! (We Are Shinhwa!)”, Junjin headed off to begin his military service.

1980-born Junjin made his debut with Shinhwa in 1998 and has since then been active as an actor and a solo singer. He was also roped in as the 7th member of variety program ‘Infinite Challenge’, but has been plagued with health problems since July this year.
