DongWan receives invitation to star in ‘Legend of Bruce Lee’

Popular group Shinhwa member Kim DongWan received an invitation from China’s Broadcasting channel CCTV to star in a 40-episode drama based on the ‘Legend of Bruce Lee.’

This 40-episode drama series is a production for the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, with a storyline that follows the life of Bruce Lee from birth to becoming a Hollywood star. DongWan has been invited to take the role of Lee JunJiu, a Korean martial arts person who provided Bruce Lee with his life-deciding opportunity and aided him in entering Hollywood. Lee JunJiu is a friendly competitor and a very important role in the series, not only introducing Bruce Lee to the world of Hollywood, but also following him afterwards and supporting him like a shadow.

Producers of the drama have expressed that they wish to have a Korean actor to play the role of Lee JunJiu, and chose DongWan after reviewing his performance in ‘Spin Kick,’ in which he demonstrated his impressive martial arts skills. They believe that DongWan will be the most perfect actor for the role and will send out a copy of their detailed plan and script to him and wait for his answer.

The producer also mentioned, “‘Legend of Bruce Lee’ will not only air in China, but will also be broadcasted in America and a number of other countries. For the actor who plays lee JunJiu, this is a great opportunity for the world to get to know him.”

Takeshi Kaneshiro was chosen to act as Bruce Lee and once the actor for Lee JunJiu has been confirmed, filming will commence around September or October in America.
