[08.06.30][news] Eric: That controversial horse cost 100 million won to rent

Shinhwa's Eric has commented about the fake horse used in Strongest Chil Woo.

After Episode 4 was aired last week, the comments left by viewers on the messageboards were all about the fake horse that Eric was riding. Most of them thought that the horse was real as the head was moving, but they realised that the horse's eyes were actually glass eyes in a close-up shot. Viewers started to question why a fake horse was used, and said that part was a slip-up.

In an interview on 29 June, Eric explained, "That horse was the horse that was used in the movie The Last Samurai, just the rental alone cost 100 million won. Using a real horse would have made it difficult to get the ideal angles, so that fake horse was brought in for multi-angle shots."

"A lot of effort was put into the close-up shot of the horse", and he was quite alarmed that viewers thought that the slip-up was done intentionally for comedic effect. But he remains grateful for the viewers for forgiving the incident.

He added, "Initially when people start watching the drama, they would think 'what is that all about', but by the time they're done with Episode 2 they would find it rather addictive", displaying full confidence in his project.

Eric even demonstrated the Mongolian whistle that is used in the drama to summon his horse, which was louder and more difficult than what we imagined it to be. He said it's because Im Haryong told him, "Don't do what's impossible", so he practiced it the whole night in the hostel. He hinted that we would be hearing his real whistle from Episode 8 onwards.
