Shinhwa member Kim Dongwan (31) has shown confidence in competing with other idol-turned-actors.
At a pre-fanmeeting press conference held on 9 Dec at Sangmyung University, Kim Dongwan was asked, “What are the qualities that you possess that will enable you to compete against other idol-turned actors?”
In a display of self-confidence, he replied, “I think my weapon is the sense of depth that’s unique to me.”
He also singled out 2PM’s Taecyeon as an idol-turned-actor with exceptional acting abilities. He said, “I think Taecyeon in particular has good acting skills. He doesn’t get intimidated in front of his seniors and the way he handles everything well is great.”
After ending his year-end activities in Japan, he will be embarking on an acting project early next year in Korea. Giving an indication of his upcoming plans, he said, “Although there are no concrete plans yet, I’m preparing to return as an actor in Korea. I’ll be working more on acting compared to singing.”
Kim Dongwan enlisted for military service after a concert to bid a temporary farewell to his fans in 2008, and has prepared the Seoul fanmeeting for Korean fans before he starts on his activities in Japan.
More than 1,000 fans from all over Asia gathered here despite the cold weather, a clear sign of his immense popularity.
Kim Dongwan was discharged from military service on 7 Dec at the Seodaemun District Office, and has signed up with Liveworks Company, who also manages fellow Shinhwa member Shin Hyesung, and Sunmin.
