Shinhwa member Kim Dongwan, who was recently discharged from military service, has officially kicked off his activities in Japan.
Having served as a public service officer for 2 years after enlisting for military service in December 2008, Kim Dongwan held a fan event on 14 Dec in Tokyo to commemorate his discharge from military service.
Out of 3,000 applicants, 160 fans were selected through a ballot to attend this event, where Kim Dongwan performed “Where You Should Be”, a song from his first album released in Japan “KIM DONGWAN JAPAN PREMIUM BEST”.
At the post-event press conference, Kim Dongwan said in fluent Japanese, “I’ve waited for 2 years to take to the stage again. I have a deep impression from the Shinhwa concerts we’ve held in Japan and I hope we can release an album as Shinhwa in 2012.”
He added, “I’d like to be an actor in Korea and a singer in Japan. If there are offers from dramas and movies in Japan, I’ll gladly accept too.”
To commemorate the release of the album, the Shin-Okubo shopping district has put up posters, flags and other orange items bearing Kim Dongwan’s image. Kim Dongwan took a stroll in this area amidst the cheering fans, and also signed on a poster for a Korean restaurant in the area.
