Shinhwa received an award of appreciation for contribution to Korean-Chinese cultural exchanges


The six-member dance group with six members, Shinhwa, received an award of appreciation in Shanghai for their contribution to the Korean-Chinese cultural exchanges.

On 3rd of November, at 6.50 pm (time in China), Shanghai’s International Arts prize-giving ceremony was held in the conference room which is on the 5th level of Regent Hotel. Shinhwa, which was represented by JunJin and Lee MinWoo, received the award from the hands of the chairperson of the Shanghai International Arts Committee.

“Shinhwa, using many different methods, has played an important part in the cultural exchanges between China and Korea and hence, the award will be given to them,” a member of the staff who helped out in the Shanghai International Arts Festival said. “And hopefully, Shinhwa’s activities in China will increase the Korean public’s interest in China’s culture.”

JunJin and Lee MinWoo received this award along with the entertainment company in China, Star Group, and also the Korean company which manages stars, Orange Shock、will be participating in the Shanghai’s ‘2006 Korean Music Showcase (Feel the K-pop in Shanghai)’ on the 3rd and 4th of November before returning to Korea.

According to the popular response Shinhwa is getting from the people in China, Shanghai International Arts Committee awarded the Special Merit Award. Shinhwa had shown its explosive popularity when the group held a successful concert in Shanghai during the month of July. There were also a lot of Shinhwa fans who gathered at the activity areas.

After receiving the award, Lee MinWoo expressed that, “It was an extremely joyous feeling to be awarded as Shinhwa, and I would like to express my gratitude to the fans in Korea and China who gave their support. The fact that we are being awarded with this even before we start promoting the Korean wave at the Shanghai showcase which will be held on the 4th of November adds to my happiness.”

JunJin said, “This will be my first time performing as a solo artist in China, and it adds on to the meaning of this award. I will try my best at every single solo activity. The fans in China have also given me a lot of love. Being able to stand here now, I would like to express my gratitude to the other members of Shinwa and the fans.”
