Shinhwa member Andy talked about the so-called discord between fellow members Shin Hyesung and Eric on the 13th Feb episode of MBC’s Let’s Sleep Here Tonight. He said, “It’s not that Hyesung and Eric are on bad terms, it’s just that their personalities are as different as water and oil.”
“When we were all still staying in the same dormitory, Dongwan, Minwoo and Hyesung each had a room to themselves while Junjin, Eric and I shared a room. And it’s pretty common for guys to shower together and to horse around together, but Hyesung always showered alone and we didn’t dare to mess with him too much when we played because we were afraid that he’d get angry.”
But even with being polar opposites, there were times when Hyesung and Eric shared their troubles with each other.
“There was once when Eric bunked in Hyesung’s room, and it just happened that Hyesung came back drunk. I was curious to see what was going to happen, so I peeked in from outside, but I just saw Hyesung telling a sleeping Eric about his troubles for one whole hour. He even told Eric, “Eric ah, actually I don’t really hate you.” Andy said it took him a lot of effort to stop bursting out in laughter.
Furthermore, though he didn’t usually have a habit of doing so, Hyesung even covered Eric with a blanket and gave Eric his bed while he fell asleep on the floor.
Andy continued, “Actually Eric wasn’t sleeping and he heard every word of what Hyesung had said. The next day Hyesung behaved like nothing had happened and told him not to bunk in other people’s rooms. Then Eric told Hyesung, “Hyesung ah, actually I like you too.” But after that, their relationship seemed to take a turn for the worse.”
