9 months after the official 4th album was released, the 4.5th album ‘Minnovation’ makes its appearance in the format of a mini-album. The last mini-album released was the jazz-styled album titled ‘The Sentimental Reason’ released in February last year. Although this is the 2nd mini-album, the style of music in this album gives a completely different feel from the previous one.
For this album, compared to recording the songs that he receives from the songwriters, Lee Minwoo concentrated more on his own melody-making, music arrangement and lyric-writing, resulting in an album that is done in a style that’s unique to M.
Composer Lee Young Jun, whom he has worked together with since the 3rd album, has teamed up with Outsidaz, who is currently based in the US, to create a shortform album with only 4 new songs, but all of which emphasize their own musical styles. The album also features remixed versions of tracks from the 3rd and 4th album, which are even more powerful than the original versions.
This album comes in 2 versions with different album jackets, and is limited to a release of 18,000 serialized copies. The special packaging for this album is a special case imported from the Netherlands, and both vibrantly colored versions – which come in the dimensions of DVD boxsets – possess high value as collectibles. The 28-page photobook contains pictures that look like movie stills with a colourful and spectacular set, and will let you see a side of M that you’ve never seen before.
