Junjin, member of popular Korean group Shinhwa, held his first solo concert in Taiwan at the Hsinchuang Gymnasium last night. Visiting Taiwan after 9 years, he presented his fans with a concert, and put up a red-hot show, proving that his leg injury has already healed.
Even the pouring rain yesterday afternoon couldn’t keep more than 3,000 passionate fans away, and Junjin’s Taiwanese fanclub even stood at the entrance giving away hundreds of support packs. Taiwanese singer Linda, who had previously worked with Junjin in an MV, had to miss the concert due to an event in Taichung.
Before the concert started, 50 fans were selected to take a picture with Junjin, but there seemed to be a lack of order in the process, and staff members had to chase and rush fans out, resulting in a somewhat awkward situation.
While maintaining a cool composure at the press conference, Junjin showed off his cool and powerful dance moves last night at the concert. He also kept on interacting with the fans in a mix of Korean and Chinese, and demonstrated the playful and adorable side of him, repeating Mandarin phrases such as “我愛你” (Wo ai ni – I love you) / “大家一起唱” (Da jia yi qi chang – Everyone sing together) / “開心嗎?” (Kai xin ma – Are you happy?) / “真的嗎?” (Zhen de ma – Really?) and even in English “I love Taiwan”. When he noticed a placard that had “Take your clothes off” written in Korean, he even teased the fans by pretending to remove his belt. Later during the encore, he drove fans wild when he lifted his shirt to show off his toned abs.
Junjin performed in total 18 songs, including his own songs as well as Shinhwa’s songs. He started the show with “Even A Thousand Times”, “Painful Love” and “One Step” , before performing “Cute” and changing part of the lyrics to Chinese.
Junjin told the fans that his wrist injury hasn’t fully recovered, and he’s been barred from doing things like playing pool to relieve stress, and added that his best way of relieving stress now is to meet the fans during his Asia tour and to interact with them.
After wrapping up a successful concert last night, Junjin has departed Taiwan for Shanghai this morning at 9.05am.
