Singer Lee Minwoo (M) is back with his Vol 4.5 album ‘Minnovation’ after 8 months.

‘Minnovation’ is a portmanteau made up of Lee Minwoo’s name ‘M’ and the word ‘innovation’, to reflect the innovative music on this album.

Lee Minwoo made his debut with idol group Shinhwa in 1998 and released his first solo album ‘Un-Touch-Able’ in 2003. Since them he has released a total of 4 solo albums and also other projects such as mini-albums and singles. Lee Minwoo has been polishing up his songwriting and lyric-writing skills since his time with Shinhwa, which were put to good use in his solo activities. This showed idol group member Lee Minwoo’s abilities as an independent musician and he has even taken on the big role of producer.

The mini-album ‘Minnovation’ focuses all the musical abilities that Lee Minwoo has accumulated in his 11 years of experience, first as part of an idol group and subsequently as an independent musician. This is well demonstrated in the title track ‘Minnovation’, where he undertakes the roles of songwriter and lyricist, and even takes care of music arrangement himself.

Starting with psychedelic synthesizer sounds, the song has a ‘M Technology’ hook using the unique Vox Effect on Lee Minwoo’s song rap, and together with the latest sound sources brought in directly from the UK, a powerful catalytic effect is achieved. The kaleidoscopic sounds and the varied rhythm patterns make it impossible to tear your ears away during the 3 minutes 22 seconds while the song is playing.

For this album, 1TYM’s Song Baek Kyung, songwriter Lee Young Joon, foreign songwriters such as Outsidaz and Yota have teamed up with the songwriters from Lee Minwoo’s previous album to combine various styles for this album. Lee Minwoo has also sampled songs from DMA (US), Anders Davink (Sweden), Shusui Kosugi (Japan) and the final product is the 6 songs featured on the album.

A spokesperson from M Rizing said, “There are 6 tracks on this album, and though it isn’t a big number, all of Lee Minwoo’s music capabilities are concentrated in these 6 tracks. People who have heard the album beforehand have commented that ‘Lee Minwoo’s music has moved on to a new level’, so our expectations are very high.” He added, “Lee Minwoo’s music is such that when combined with his stage performance, a greater synergy is achieved, so please look forward to the first performance.”

“As this is potentially Lee Minwoo’s last album for some time to come, he will be more actively involved in promotional activities than ever.”
