Eric has taken a tough stand against the recent reports of Shinhwa disbanding, dismissing them as "purely rumours".
At the press conference for the KBS2 drama Strongest Chil Woo, when asked about the reports about Shinhwa disbanding, as always he firmly replied, "The reports about Shinhwa disbanding are purely rumours. It's an inaccurate report. I don't feel the need to have to counter that."
The reports came about as the members' management company's rights to the Shinhwa trademark had expired on 31 May and that the planned Shinhwa Asia Fanmeeting on Jeju Island in August had been called off.
On June 3rd, Good Entertainment released a notice stating that "Shinhwa members are currently active with their solo activities and will temporarily be unable to participate in group activities as Shinhwa, but they will surely reunite as Shinhwa the group soon."
The notice also emphasized that, "The planned Asia Fanmeeting in August on Jeju Island was unable to materialize due to the conflicting schedules of the members. There is no problem at all for the Shinhwa trademark to be used until their contract expires."
