[08.06.09][news] Kim Rae Won-Eric-Lee Dong Gun: Pre-enlistment showdown

With the highly rated MBC drama Lee San drawing to a close, the upcoming dramas are already locked in a battle to claim the void that Lee San has left behind.

The 3 dramas to be shown after Lee San are: SBS's Gourmet, KBS2's Strongest Chil Woo, and MBC's When Night Comes - big titles that the 3 major TV stations are banking on.

SBS's new Mon/Tue drama Gourmet has long been in preparation and has attracted a lot of interest, especially after the movie version of Gourmet was released. Kim Rae Won plays the main characted of Son Seung Chan.

Making his appearance as a Korean superhero in KBS2's Strongest Chil Woo, Eric has garnered a lot of attention for his first role in a sageuk drama. Eric plays the title character Chil Woo - a najang by day and an assassin by night.

Taking over Lee San's slot on MBC is When Night Comes, the comeback drama of Kim Sun Ah of My Name Is Kim Sam Soon fame. The drama also stars Lee Dong Gun.

One thing in common that the 3 dramas share is that all 3 male leads - Kim Rae Won, Eric and Lee Dong Gun - will be enlisting for military service soon after these drama projects. Eric was originally due to enlist in May but he delayed enlistment to September for the drama. Kim Rae Won and Lee Dong Gun have also publicly announced that they would be enlisting in 2008.

For these 3 top stars, these will be their final projects before their enlistment. Confirming his enlistment, Eric expressed this at the press conference for Strongest Chil Woo, "It's great that I'm able to work on a sageuk drama with KBS before I enlist."

Thus, for these 3 actors, these dramas are especially meaningful. Who will beat out the competition and lead the pack? The pre-enlistment showdown between these 3 actors is highly anticipated.
