MBC’s We Got Married is currently shortlisting new couple candidates.
According to a source at MBC, Kang In and Junjin are strong contenders for the male role, while Lee Hyun Ji is being considered for the female role. “If Junjin gets selected, he will appear on MBC for the full weekend, on Infinity Challenge on Saturday and on We Got Married on Sunday. Lee Hyun Ji would be making a second appearance should she get selected, after her appearance with Choi Jin Young on a special episode of the show.”
Following the departure of Kim Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo, the last remaining couple of the first season, Crown J and Seo In Young, have also announced their departure from the show. Attention have since been focused on the possible incoming new couples. There have been much speculation that idol group members will join the show, such as a rumour that DBSK’s Micky Yoochun and former Sharp member Lee Ji Hye will form one of the new couples, leading to many unhappy responses left by DBSK fans on the show’s website.
However, in a phone interview with We Got Married’s PD Im Jung Ah, she said, “Although there are more than 10 names being shortlisted now, Micky Yoochun and Lee Ji Hye have never been included in the discussion. There is no basis for this rumour at all.”
As for another rumour about Big Bang’s G-Dragon being considered for the show, this too attracted much unhappiness from the fans. PD Im said, “From the production team’s point of view, we hope that G-Dragon will agree. We’re just waiting for his reply now.” In reply, YG Entertainment has said, “As the year-end schedule is really very hectic, we will discuss this when the year is over.”
Amidst the speculation, the first new couple will make their appearance on the show on the 21 Dec episode.
