After spending last year with variety programmes helmed by Kang Ho Dong and Yoo Jae Suk, 2008 has been a year where many new faces were discovered in the variety scene. This year in particular, saw several celebrities who have spent about a decade in showbiz but are still being dubbed as the new stars.

- Infinite Challenge’s Junjin: Simply showed off what has kept him going for 10 years

It was rather surprising to see charismatic Junjin of 10-year-old group Shinhwa onInfinite Challenge, given that he doesn’t quite fit with the “below average” tagline of the show.

In June, Junjin started off with the Money Bag Challenge of the show, then went on to participate in several key episodes such as the Olympic commentator special, the National Aerobics Competition and the Design Olympics, establishing a firm hold over his position as the 7th member of the team.

Junjin has also assimilated well with the team, even when the other members collapse and whine, Junjin works even harder to compensate for them. Even though he has a fear of water, during a filming session he nevertheless jumped into the water without hesitating. His can-do, “work-till-you-drop” attitude is representative of the new crop of variety stars.
