[08.12.20][News] Lee Minwoo gets emotional at Tokyo concert

Shinhwa member M Lee Minwoo held his M RIZING IN TOKYO concert at the JCB Hall over 17th and 18th Dec. Fans packed the venue, all equipped with orange lightsticks and giving boisterous screams to cheer Lee Minwoo on. More than 5,000 fans enjoyed the passionate atmosphere at the concert.

Lee Minwoo kicked off the show with an impressive dance set, from powerful dances to sexy dances, and performed a total of 20 songs. Inviting fans onstage, getting up close with fans, drenching himself with water - this is Lee Minwoo’s unique style of performance.

He also prepared a piano performance for the first time in Japan, and also used a lot of Japanese slang when conversing with the crowd.

Keeping a smile on his face for most of the show, Lee Minwoo finally caved in to his emotions when the audience sang along to Last First Kiss, getting teary-eyed and even choked for a moment. However, he recovered quickly and smiled again, and relayed his love and gratitude for everyone.

At the press conference, Lee Minwoo said, “It’s great holding concerts in Japan, the fans are fantastic.” He added that despite having many experiences of performing in Japan, but as it was his last concert before army enlistment, he was particularly nervous.

The reason behind him trying hard to speak Japanese during the concert, as he explained, “Although there are many fans who understand Korean, but there are also many other fans who don’t. So I was hoping to express myself in Japanese. For myself, if overseas fans say just “annyeong haseyo” to me I’d be really happy. So I figured that the fans here would be happy if I spoke Japanese too.”

“Thank you for all the presents from the fans, such as accessories, shirts, pants, I’m really grateful for your kind thoughts. I’ll wear them during my concerts and on TV programmes.” After thanking his fans for the presents, he joked with his unique M-style humor, “But everyone sent me things in M size, and M size in Japan is S size in Korea, they’re too small for me. Please send me L sized things in future.”

“I’ll be busy with the follow-up track for the album and the concerts, so the year-end schedule is very packed. I still have some variety shows planned on the schedule too. And I hope to go travelling and skiing with the members whom I haven’t met in a long time.”

“I like Japan a lot. And I’m working hard on the activities in Japan, as well as looking to work with the entertainment companies here.”

For Minwoo, who’s scheduled to enlist in May next year, it seems that his passion for his work will never diminish.
