Blue chips of the variety world Andy and Lee Sungjin will be bringing their own interpretation of the hit musical Singles, much to the anticipation of the audience.
Andy - the creator of the "Andy effect" on the box office in the musical scene - and witty Lee Sungjin - who has just returned from military service - will be featuring in the musical Singles with top musical actors Oh Rora, Yoo Na Young and Kim Se Woo.
Transcending the movie version of Singles, and The Charisma of Being 29 - the original novel from which the movie was adapted from - the musical version will present a story that will appeal to both sexes and all ages.
Singles the Musical was first staged in June 2007 in Seoul's Dongsoong Art Center, and kept an average of a 91% attendance rate throughout its run. Not only did it gain critical acclaim, it was also a success at the box office.
Using a uniquely light and cheerful tone, and using a "Singles" culture created by the movie as a platform, the musical is an original production that is a combination of the movie with musical elements.
During this period of time, singer-turned-musical actor Andy will be taking up the role of Soo Hyun, while Lee Sungjin will be playing Jungjoon.
The character of Soo Hyun is also 29 years old just like Andy himself, and Andy is glad to be able to act out experiences similar to his own. For Lee Sungjin, this is his first project since he completed his military duty, as well as his first foray into musicals. Despite this, he will present a performance that doesn't pale in comparison to seasoned musical actors.
Singles the Musical will run from 25th Oct to 18 Jan 2009 at Seoul's Baekam Art Hall in Gangnam.
