The one similarity that new WGM couples Junjin/Lee Shi Young, Shin Sung Rok/Kim Shin Young and Jung Hyung Don/Taeyeon share is the ‘unbalanced’ nature of their pairings.
For Junjin and Lee Shi Young, there is already a big difference in terms of their showbiz experience. Junjin made his debut with Shinhwa in 1998, bringing his showbiz age close to 11 years, while newcomer Lee Shi Young has just started making progress in her one-year acting career.
During their first meeting, they had problems coordinating and communicating with each other - even as Junjin tried hard to get rid of the awkwardness between them and to take care of his new ‘wife’ Lee Shi Young, who posseses a somewhat quirky, 4th-dimensional personality.
On the other hand, Shin Sung Rok with his gentlemanly image and Kim Shin Young with her comedic image, earned themselves the
“unbalanced couple” nickname right from the start. The difference in their heights alone amount to 30cm.
Finally for Jung Hyung Don and Taeyeon, for a start their age difference of more than 10 years already contributes to the “unbalanced” part in their relationship.
There have been both positive and negative reactions to these 3 new couples, as evident from the messages left by viewers on the show’s official message board.
As for whether these 3 “unbalanced couples” are able to rescue the flagging show, that remains to be seen.
